Description:
When you work at Caterpillar as a Human Resources (HR) Consultant you have the opportunity to coordinate, administer and develop various human resources services and functions within a facility. You will work with employees on all payrolls and all shifts relating the HR issues and topics to ensure your facility engages employees while meeting Caterpillar's business needs and complying with all company policies and legal requirements.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Providing direction and guidance to the General and/or Facility Manager, business team managers and all other employees on HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency
· Participating as a functional resource on business team ensuring human resources is an integral part of the business strategy
· Communicating changes to employees, managers, general managers and leadership members advised on changes
· Integrating cultural values in the day-to-day business activities
· Providing direction to Facility Management in interpretation and application of employee-related policies, practices and procedures, as well as international laws if applicable, governmental regulations, and internal investigations to enhance consistency and maintain and improve the work environment of the facility
· Providing employment and personnel services including hiring new employees, administering benefits, providing appropriate training, and ensuring a safe work environment
· Providing directives considering impact upon the company (financial), employee engagement, and consideration for the future (new practices, policies, and procedures)
· Researching, benchmarking, creating strategic initiatives, and designing implementation strategy to improve business unit results at all locations
· Formulating and/or implementing policies, practices and procedures related to employment practices, appropriate training, benefits, and safety
· Coordinating programs for management recruiting and selection
· Developing and coordinating training, development, and promotion to ensure proper and effective staffing, personnel selection and practices, manpower planning and succession planning, skills development, training, policy & practice interpretation and application
· Assisting managers in addressing individual and organizational effectiveness issues and compensation administration
Required Qualifications:
Requires an awareness and expertise in many areas of human resources. Needs to consider both traditional and non-traditional approaches to human resource management.
Requires some experience in labor relations, benefits, compensation, personnel and training with a working knowledge of operations.
Requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience of four to six years of practical human resource assignments
Must possess strong human relations and communications skills, along with organization planning and personal computer proficiency
Must have proven ability to maintain confidentiality
