Role Summary/Purpose :

The Lead Systems Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing, evolving and communicating reliability engineering excellence across the Imaging modality engineering teams as related to the systems engineering discipline. The candidate will also work cross functionally to support the modality efforts necessary to identify and execute reliability improvements needed to reach product quality targets including cost of quality reductions.

Essential Responsibilities :

Duties include (but are not limited to):

1. Develop, document and communicate reliability engineering best practices across modality engineering teams and cross functions related to the Systems engineering discipline.

2. Support and review of modality reliability target development, subsystem flow down and allocation, requirement strategies, FMEAs, P-Diagrams, audits, test and verification strategies, as part of New Product Introductions (NPIs).

3. Review of product designs and participation in Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) with specific recommendations for reliability improvement including adherence to internal and external quality and safety standards.

4. Follow continuous improvement and innovations in reliability engineering and Design for Reliability (DFR) methods, tools, processes and solutions with instantiation and communication via an annual benchmark and technology roadmap report.

5. Oversee internal as well as external autopsy of failed devices and components to maximize learning, document failures and drive to understand fundamental root cause, physics of failure and conclusions.

6. Develop and present DFR instruction as part of the GEHC Reliability Practitioner Program (RPP) and other internal reliability engineering education initiatives including leverage of external universities and reliability tool providers. Provide technical leadership by coaching practitioners on their projects ensuring expected business impact.

7. Actively participate in the reliability initiatives of the GEHC Technology Councils.

Qualifications/Requirements :

1. Master of Science Degree in Engineering or closely related field 

2. Demonstrated 5+ years work experience in design of medical devices

3. Experience implementing reliability testing systems including accelerated life testing

4. Demonstrated 3+ years work experience in reliability engineering methods and tools

5. Ability to monitor and report multiple product targets and status including reliability, quality, cost, and serviceability metrics

6. Experience with statistical methods used in quality assessment and improvement processes

7. Demonstrated experience and ability to teach technical subject matter with high comprehension methods. Ability to interpret, extract key elements and explain complex technical information
