Accountabilities

? Provide management and technical guidance of environmental initiatives in the region
? Develop the understanding and skills of APAC site environmental representatives, through training and mentoring
? Participate in projects and support sites within the region to provide expert advice on environmental pollution control measures and monitor to ensure compliance and understanding
? Establish standards for pollution control equipment in line with best industry practice and ensure compliance with Syngenta standards
? Promote and support continuous improvement in environmental performance metrics
? Ensure accurate and appropriate environmental reporting across the region
? Undertake specialist environmental audits
? Provide technical support on environmental issue management
Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge

? Relevant engineering degree (e.g. chemical, process, mechanical)
? Knowledge of principal pollution control systems for managing environmental impacts to air, land and water
? Knowledge of HSE management systems
? Commissioning and training of wastewater treatment plants, including small packaged plants
? Comprehensive knowledge of best industry practices with pollution control equipment, such as thermal oxidisers, air emission control systems, high temperature incinerators and wastewater treatment plants
Critical experience

? A minimum of 6-8 years' experience working in the chemical, pharmaceutical or petrochemical manufacturing industry
? Experience in environmental monitoring - air, noise, odour and water
? Experience with cost estimation for planning, preliminary design and detailed design.
? Developing and conducting relevant environmental training
? Develop and implement standard operating procedures
? Familiar with National HSE standards and legislation in Asia
? Ability and experience in liaising with regulators, employees and consultants
? Experience with managing projects
? Experience with trouble shooting environmental pollution control and monitoring equipment
? Familiar with Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP)

? Train and mentor site environmental engineers to develop and improve their skills
? An ability to work in a team or autonomously
? Willing to handle and manage different levels of projects, from minor to more complex
? Exceptional communication and presentation skills
? Hard working and outcome driven
? Share good practice and incident learning
? Must have good verbal and written English skills. Secondary languages would be an advantage
? Fluent in MS packages

Additional information

? Role requires frequent travel within APAC to support businesses, and projects and carry out training and development
? In addition, there may be travel to regional / global environmental meetings (two to three per year).
