Description:

Acting as a strategic business partner, a Legal Counsel of GE Healthcare (“GEHC”) China is expected to provide advice to the business on risks and practical solutions. The ideal candidate must maintain a high level of competence within the field of PRC law and have the merits enabling the excellent partnership with the business.

Reporting Line:

Report to Senior Legal Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle legal matters and projects independently and diligently in a dynamic environment;

Work proactively with business team and support our business to achieve the goals in a compliant way;

Ensure that legal requirements for GEHC China’s operations are fulfilled and that risks and exposures are alerted, avoided or at least minimized;

Monitor the PRC legislations which may affect GEHC China’s operations for preparing the business for the necessary adaptations;

Work with various teams across the organization (both vertically and horizontally) to deliver results;

Ensure the global policies are implemented in GEHC China.

Main Tasks:

Draft, review and negotiate various commercial contracts such as direct sales contracts, dealer contracts, contracts for international trading etc.;

Provide legal advice to resolve commercial disputes, including for example through negotiations, arbitration or litigation. Coordinate the legal efforts, work out legal strategies and manage external counsels;

Provide legal advice on business development cases, such as acquisitions and other important transactions in China;

Work closely with compliance teams on trainings, investigations etc. for emphasizing the compliance culture;

Identify emerging regulatory and policy issues and make appropriate recommendations. Spend efforts to comment on draft regulations and other government initiatives;

Establish and maintain good communication channels with relevant governmental authorities;

Handle government investigations/inquiries and support compliance team on internal investigations;

Contribute to the process and practice improvement initiatives;

Perform other tasks assigned from time to time.

Required Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience working in a multinational corporation and/or for a reputable law firm. Experience with healthcare business is a plus.

Fluency in both oral and written Chinese/English.

Desire to learn and grow professionally in a challenging and complex business environment.

Ability to function as a proactive partner for teams from different departments within the company.

Ability to work independently.

Great communication skills.

PRC bar. Admission to major overseas jurisdictions is a plus.

Law degree from a reputable university. JD or LLM degree from an overseas law school is a plus.
