Position Summary

Rockwell Automation is at the forefront of Cloud technology, helping our customers gather and analyze data to help turn it into strategic information.

The focus of the Connected Services team that you will be joining starts with the collection of time series data from customer’s equipment, such as PLCs, drives, switches, and other OT devices. We move this data into the Cloud, where we design and develop visualization and analytical applications that help drive strategic operational and efficiency information out of this raw data.

This Senior Engineer position is responsible for designing and developing Cloud-based applications as part of our Connected Services group, using tools like Microsoft .Net, Java, AngularJS, JSON, VantagePoint, Python, Node.js, and Microsoft Azure. This position will work directly with both internal and external customers to understand and document application requirements. You will establish a timeline for these design and development activities, and are expected to track and report on progress. You will be responsible for design, development, and testing of small to medium size applications. You will work as part of a team when building larger applications.

Essential Functions: Functional

• Develops and documents code, according to the development process, that satisfies the software design. Develops and executes thorough unit test plan. Reports, analyze, debugs and corrects defects. Integrates with other components to produce a final product.

• Using current programming language and technologies (C#, .Net), write code and perform testing and debugging of code.

• Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance of developed software

• Ensure that all software developed complies with internal standards

• Contributes to software development capability improvement in the areas of software development practices, technology utilization and development tools.

• Frequently interacts with peers and customers to gain cooperation of others or conduct presentations of technical information/project activities

• Communications with project teams to ensure that they have all of the information required to successfully implement projects.

• Understands the nature of the specific industry served and the available market.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

• Four-year college degree in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or equivalent 4-year technical degree.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development, including working knowledge of relational database technologies

• Demonstrated success at simultaneously working with multiple projects

• Experience with direct customer contact

  Desired Qualifications/Characteristics:

• Knowledge or experience with the industrial automation industry

• Knowledge or experience with cloud design and development
