The Composites Application Development Lab Technician is accountable for daily lab operations to support conversions of various market requirements into composite solutions. This role works closely with the Application Development Lab Leader and Engineers on installations and commissioning of assigned lab capability, composite compounding and injection molding to support new application developments. The incumbent will also be expected to work closely with Asia Pacific science and technology center (ATC) Material Characterizations Lab to ensure high quality and effective composite sample testing.

The successful candidate must have a good understanding of fiber reinforced polymer material systems and hands on experiences with composite processing technologies (such as compounding, injection molding etc) and mechanical testing.

The position reports to the Application Development Manager

Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates a commitment to safety

2. Provides Technical Support on Application Development Projects
? Fully understands project technical requirement for the development of materials or systems to increase customer satisfaction.
? Applies expertise in product performance to adequately support development projects and initiatives
? Balances multiple assignments across individual or multiple projects
? Works effectively across regional technical organizations (ATC/CTSO) to ensure project success
Metrics
? Elevates customer satisfaction through measurable goals
? Achieves assignment deliverables on time

3. Executes Application Development Lab Daily Operation
? Becomes the master on assigned composite processing technology and continuously improve operation quality and efficiency;
? Compounds product prototypes and conducts field evaluations using OC materials
? Performs laboratory and application testing and applies understanding of standardized test methods to effectively test products
? Documents technical work, analyzes data, and produces reports for internal communication
? Execute lab work in a timely and accurate manner according to business priority
? Perform maintenance activities of lab equipment to ensure effective operation.

? Lab operation meets OC Quality Requirements and Standards
? Provides product performance insight not readily apparent in test data

Job Requirements
Experiences:
? 1~2 years’ experience in thermoplastic industry, product and process development, production, or quality assurance role
? Installation, operation, and maintenance of composite equipment, compounding, injection molding or other related technologies
? Safety management of composite R&D lab
? Chemicals handling following local and company policy
? Hands on experience on thermoplastic resin and glass fiber reinforcements
? Conduct R&D activities following company Standard Operation Procedure or Work Procedure, feedback for improvement
? Communication with internal or external technical or quality partners

Knowledge and Abilities:
? An associate degree is required, preferably in science or engineering. Bachelor degree preferred
? Knowledge on thermoplastic resin systems and good knowledge in fiber reinforcement will be necessary
? Experiences on thermoplastic process technology such as compounding and injection molding will be a plus
? Six Sigma and DOE knowledge will be a plus
? A working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) required
? Mechanical, hands-on aptitude is needed
? Communication in English is required
