POSITION: Merchant – Greater China MP&A
ORGANIZATION: L Brands
LOCATION: Shanghai
REPORTING
RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Merchandising Manager
DESCRIPTION: The Merchant will be assisting the China MP&A team in driving product performance and opportunities across all categories within the GC region. He/She must have an in-depth understanding of the products and assortments in order to make sound judgements in decision-making with regards to the merchandise sold across all formats and channels of the Victoria’s Secret brand.
The role interacts closely and works in partnership with MP&A, Store Ops, Marketing and Visual partners to ensure the brand merchandize vision is consistently executed.
He/she will have a strong relationship and regularly communicate with US based merchants and MP&A partners on local trends, competitor strategy, pricing, market environment and best practices. In partnership with the Pricing Analyst and Planners he/she will take accountability for ensuring products adhere to the pricing strategies and margin targets. He/she will maximize sales potential of the products by providing key market and consumer insights based on facts, analysis, data and market learning to cross-functional teams to take action on opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Respond to inquiries from teams with regards to on-hand assortment products details such as pictures, size range, description, hierarchies and data
? Gather, analyze and present forward product/floorset knowledge and insight to home office team to be cascaded down to store
? Regularly spend time in stores understanding customer and team feedback on product, price and visual wins or opportunities
? Monitor performance by category to propose actions to drive sales based on local assortment availability and opportunities
? Resolve any product related issues linked to quality, regulatory, China-specific issues and reflect to team for action taking
? Updating databases with product-specific information i.e. but not limited to collection names, Ecommerce data, master styles descriptions
? Identifying key items used in marketing visuals or launch tables and communicate actions needed to Store Ops, Marketing and Allocation team
? Assist in the production of local VS NOW guides, and to provide home office with up-to-date trend information in relation to our products
? Conduct online and offline market research and in partnership with Pricing Analyst and Manager to propose actions to drive sales with promotions, activities, events, visual display adjustments specific to the assortment/floorset focuses
? Assist in product buys post in-depth review and analysis of past products and floorsets, with consideration of promotional events and holidays
? Ensuring product data and merchandise strategies are aligned between offline stores and online ecommerce platforms
? Work closely with US based partners in and have regular communication via email, telephone, video conference calls
EXPERIENCE: ? With at least 3-5 years merchant or fashion product development experience in retail and fashion industry in China
? Experience in high volume, high SKU, multi-location distribution environment
? Adaptable and flexible to changing circumstances and needs of the role, including flexibility in working hours to ensure coordination with key clinical colleagues in different locations and time zones
? Enjoy working with numbers and statistics and data analysis
? Fashion savvy, trend-seeker, price sensitive
? Possess both quantitative and qualitative analysis and presentation skills
? Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and system interfaces
? Excellent communication and prioritizing skills
? Ability to be a team player and to foster a commitment to teamwork among associates
? Be detail oriented problem solver with a proactive results orientation
? Strong and clear communicator
? International experience a plus
? Experience working in a multinational matrixed environment
EDUCATION: ? Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferably in fashion related disciplines
? Fluency in Mandarin and English
