Senior Mechanical Engineer – Honeywell Thermal Solutions

Position Overview:
The position will be part of a global team supporting New Product Development (NPD) and providing Product and Engineering Support for burners within the Honeywell Thermal Solutions (HTS) business with annual revenue of $0.5B. The individual will be part of the global R&D team to introduce new products to the market by supporting the installation and testing of new technologies at customer host sites. Ultimately, this role will develop into a full NPD R&D role, responsible for new product development in China.

This individual will also assist in the localization and tailoring of existing products to the Chinese market. This position will be responsible for insuring localization efforts of existing products maintains consistent product quality standards, reduces overall product costs while supporting aggressive growth targets.

Focus of Position
Perform advanced engineering design calculations
Lab testing
Make design decisions
Assist with new equipment startups and host site testing of prototype equipment
Support problem job resolution
Combine, apply, and document product & process knowledge
Create new items
Work w/Designers, Engineers, & other functions
Maintain BOMs
Coordinate ECO's/ECR's
Project mgmt (sales order management)
Quoting (identifying solutions, preparing solutions)
Contract and specification review
Work with suppliers to establish local sources of supply for key components (Product
Localization)
 
Expected Outcomes
Complete and accurate BOMs;
Efficient transition between engineering and production
Reduced warranty claims (related to design specification and application)
Customer satisfaction (solution matches need)
Ease of manufacturability

QUALIFICATION:
Master/Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
At least 8 years of engineering experience, of which, 3-4 years of experience with combustion products and applications.
Domain knowledge of combustion industry.
Lead at least one new product introduction project of above mentioned products.
Combustion equipment troubleshooting and/or operational experience including understanding and application knowledge of process devices such as:
a.Commercial and/or Industrial Burners
b.Pressure Regulators
c.Rotary Actuators
d.Shutoff gas Valves
e.Pressure Switches
f.Electric Motors
g.Combustion equipment if possible
h.Blower
Equipment Testing
a.Combustion Emission Analysis
b.Data acquisition / recording
c.Test Reporting
d.Problem solving skills
Excellent written & verbal communication skills and relationship building skills.
Self-motivated and team-oriented personality.
Interested in working in fast paced, global business e***ironment.
Able to work and travel in global collaborating e***ironment with intensive challenges.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Travel up to 25% of the time is required in this role.

SKILLS:
Excellent skills on AutoCAD, I***entor, SolidEdge, etc.
Skilled FEA capability and experience is must. CFD experience would be plus.
Deep understanding of materials such as cast steel, spheroidal iron, aluminium, stainless steel, plastics, elastomers and experience of different global material norms.
Rich knowledge of heat treatment methods and surface treatment methods.
Knowledge of product certifications _ UL,FM, CSA, or CE, etc.
Knowledge of DFX: design for manufacturing, design for test
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as multi-axis CNC machining, sand casting, i***estment, forging, aluminium die casting, plastic injection moulding, sheet metal forming,
welding.
