Job Outline
This new role will provide comprehensive services for students who want to pursue their postgraduate. Internally, the post holder is responsible for assisting students with their further study, which includes transferring necessary knowledge of further study to students (e.g. further study workshops), giving advice to students through their application process and providing professional guidance for students’ future careers. Externally, the post holder is responsible for building connections with overseas universities, promoting our student and holding collaborative activities if necessary.
The post is also instrumental in dealing with administrative tasks including data management etc.
Qualifications
Essential
- University Degree or equivalent qualification;
- Advanced guidance skills;
- Knowledge of career guidance theory and overseas further study programmes;
- Ability to produce results through judgement, efficiency and expediency;
- Ability to think on one’s feet and deliver effectively with occasionally limited planning and preparation time;
- Strong ability to challenge accepted approaches, to rethink how we can effectively deliver across all areas from time to time;
- Excellent knowledge of and commitment to a quality assured environment;
- Excellent command of the English language;
- Proven IT skills, including using MS Office applications;
- Effective communication and team work;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, presentation skills and administrative skills;
- Time management skills and able to work in multiple tasks concurrently;
- The ability to deliver a professional service to clients in a busy, pressured environment;
- Considerable experience in career guidance practice;
- Experience of supporting complex projects and large/ complex database;
- Experience of producing reports and analysing data;
- Experience of developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communications plan;
- Experience of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders;
- Experience of successfully delivering careers information, education, advice and guidance in overseas Higher Education or other appropriate substantial experience;
- Experience of teaching in and contributing to successful career development programmes;
- Experience of presenting effectively to large groups;
- Experience of running interactive well received and effective group exercises;
- Awareness of data protection legislation, health and safety and equality and diversity;
- Confident, quick learner, and self-motivated;
- Strong commitment to student services and a belief in the value of higher education;

- Master’s degree Qualification;

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Development of further study projects:
- Explore overseas further study opportunities for UNNC students;
- Build connections with world top universities, including maintain relationship with connected universities and seek cooperation with potential universities;
- Hold joint events with overseas universities and finding new possible cooperation channels;
- Facilitate communication between overseas universities and UNNC students;
Further study guidance, advice and coaching:
- Provide further study guidance and advice, via individual consultations and group activities, to undergraduates, postgraduates and graduates in order to facilitate further study decision-making and effective implementation of postgraduate choice;
- Activities will include but are not limited to:
- In-depth further study counselling;
- ‘Quick query’ appointments;
- PS, CV and make application workshops;
- Group presentations on aspects of further study and employability;
- Help students to understand the relationship among their academic programs, further study opportunities and future employment;
Development of administrative processes, including:
- Carry out regular surveys of student perceptions and services offered in relation to careers and to update the regular employment status data – providing reports to senior colleagues as appropriate;
- Undertake statistical work related to the collection, processing, analysing, interpreting and presenting of statistical data and report. Compiling statistical reports including monthly employment status reports, annual graduates’ destinations;
- Update graduates’ destination reports and editing relevant webpages for different courses thereby supporting current students career planning and prospective students’ recruitment;
- Build the Career Management System to meet the requirement of Education bureaus;
- Participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate;
- Maintain appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness;
- Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
