Job Purpose
- The industrial Design team drives execution of vision and product development for Devices hardware programs in the context of the Microsoft device ecosystem. The ID team creates design solutions for products, supporting Program teams in preparation for manufacture, preparing assets for next generation devices, and concepting directions to explore wider strategic opportunities. The team collaborates with business, R&D, Sourcing as well as sales and marketing when appropriate. The team will also work in close collaboration with our supply base.
- The Industrial Designer at MACH position is a “hands on” individual contributor that will bring thought, extensive experience and practical knowledge into ensuring the creative design intent from the Redmond ID team is effectively communicated to and executed by the MACH program engineering team and is successfully driven into mass production with exceptional quality.

Responsibilities
- Creative vision for products is created by the Industrial Design team based in Redmond. The Industrial Designer at MACH will be responsible for driving high fidelity ID execution of that vision through detailed product design process, including: technical conceptualization, prototyping, complex 3D surfacing and form development, integration and refinement with the local engineering and program team, and successful project management into production.
- The Industrial Designer at MACH will also be responsible for asset creation and quality of work. He/she will be responsible for guiding the execution of aesthetic vision for the product, and provide recommendations for technical and production improvements.
- Working both at a product and a portfolio level the Industrial Designer at MACH creates and leads product-line integration and cohesion within the larger product brand identity. He / she guides and produces prototypes to establish and drive product concepts, brand narratives, and experience value propositions. Uses models as part of a participatory design process to generate and refine product level concepts.
- The Industrial Designer develops and facilitates creative and technical problem solving processes and environments, resulting in product- and team-level impact. Drives collaboration across feature teams and ensures that the right people with the right knowledge and expertise are involved. Begins to find ways to accomplish more by enabling others. Overcomes obstacles by resolving issues, regardless of team boundaries, and identifies and resolves teamwork issues.
- Collaborating with all teams across Design, R&D, product management, our supply base, sales and marketing when appropriate. He/ she engages and maintains consistent communication with all relevant parties. Promotes a positive team environment by modelling behaviour that promotes good morale. Mentors others. Has a sense of pride and personal accountability for the end-to-end product/service quality, completeness and resulting user experience, for the life of the product/service.
-Collaborating with CMF Designers and CMF Quality Engineers to ensure that design intent is maintained in supplier selection, design for manufacture, tooling and sample creation and sign-off.
- The position of the Industrial Designer is capable of working with minimal supervision to meet objectives and implement design on their own. He/she provides shares knowledge with less experienced peers and have high collegial interaction. Raises innovative ideas.
- Ability to travel frequently within locally and overseas and for extended period of time and on short notices.

Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and skillset in all phases of design, engineering, & overall hardware product development process.
- Ability to span from system level architecture conceptualization through detailed manufacturing review
- Deep technical knowledge around injection molding, high-volume metal fabrication processes, materials, electronics, and other technical elements of the process.
- Expert in Class A surfacing, whether driving Catia V6, Alias, Rhino, Solidworks, or Pro/Engineer
- Expert in 3D Visualization Keyshot or other rendering SW
- Ability to source and vet emerging technologies and manufacturing processes to enable design leadership in our target markets
- Speaks fluent English

Education and Experience
- Degree in Design, with a minimum of 4 years of industrial design, product design, and/or mechanical engineering experience within a product design organization. Minimum Bachelor Level.
- Experience in a product development consulting environment is required, as well as experience designing within a collaborative ID/engineering setting
- Proven track record of product execution into successful high volume manufacture.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in successful product design, versatility with design and rapid prototyping tools and methods, and a strong understanding of design and creative process
- Experience developing and managing relationships with internal and external partners including suppliers, technical alliances, and key customers or clients
- Experience in international design or consumer electronic company is an advantage
- Experience in Product Design and Design for Manufacture is an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to communication across multiple time zones to a remote design leadership team 举报 分享
