Job summary:

l Procurement Link in Manufacturing Site with Team Leadership responsibility.

l Responsible for on-site execution of global Procurement programs on behalf of Procurement Engineering and/or Commodity Management. The role is manufacturing site related and Procurement link with Suppliers for the execution of cost down and new product introduction.

l Drives concept savings in new product development in close cooperation with Marketing, Quality, SCM and development. Represents procurement in a development center and ensures early supplier involvement.

l Leads or participates in DfX conventions. Provides should-cost assessments for newly proposed products. Drives request for quotation process based on the Forward Procurement List.

l Drives the Supplier Selection Process together with the Commodity Teams. Executes and supports phase in – phase Out (PIPO) planning related to new product introduction.

l Supports the Supplier Quality Manager in new supplier component release process as part of the Advanced Quality Plan (AQP), including compliance and sustainability aspects.

l Aligns needs with competitive landscape and technology roadmaps. Provides input for make or buy analysis. Supports the in/outsourcing process (e.g. knowledge transfer, supplier ramp-up).

l Provides input to the Commodity Teams regarding the supply base characteristics based on business requirements. Orders tools and samples related to new product development.

l Leads the implementation of the cost reduction strategy focused on the product life cycle, from new product design to products released for production, by tapping into cost down opportunities for the assigned product(s) or supplier(s).

l Identifies strategic cost reduction opportunities in the product portfolio and during the new product design process delivering a significant contribution to design decision making and product roadmaps.

l Supports the negotiation teams with conceptual and fact-based information and opportunities to drive significant structural cost reduction improvement.

l Drives the deployment of early supplier involvement through design-in or cost-reduction workshops. Develops and deploys common approaches to target costing and tracking for the assigned product/category.

l Owns the delivering of BOM related cost elements for assigned major commodity, as required improving total cost of ownership for the cost roadmaps for key products.

l Leads the development of an effective set of cost models to track “target cost” status for assigned.

Your responsibilities:

l As a Procurement Engineer based in a manufacturing site, you represent procurement in the site management team and lead a team that delivers procurement support in the end2end value chain for that site. You work with a DfX mindset and make use of approaches like co-design or value engineering workshops. You ensure procurement related risks (cost, quality and availability) are controlled and mitigated, by bringing the relevant procurement colleagues in to the equation.

l Another important responsibility is driving cost downs activities. You identify strategic cost reduction opportunities for products in the portfolio and for products in production. In new product development you drive savings in close cooperation with Marketing, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Development & Commodity Management. In this way you deliver a significant contribution to business cases and product roadmaps. To enable this, you understand cost drivers and the power of standardization.

l Last but not least, you participate and drive DfX projects supporting business decisions in a convention based forum.

Your team

Philips has a highly international workforce in more than 100 countries. You will be part of the Philips Procurement team working for Personal Health.

You are directly responsible for leadership of a team of Procurement Engineers and Site Procurement Specialists located within the site.

The Procurement Engineer will be part of a small international and dedicated team. You will be based in Zhuhai, China. Report directly to the Procurement Engineering Business Partner. You will work closely with colleagues in marketing, innovation and commodity management.

We are looking for

l Bachelor degree or above, major in a relevant technical discipline.

l At least 10yrs work experience, including a 5-7 years proven professional track record in procurement related functions in MNCs, experience in Automotive, Consumer Electronics is preferred.

l Has experience in DfX, Value Engineering, LEAN or Six Sigma

l Experience in New Product Introduction Process

l Expert in initiating and driving cost down projects

l Knowledge leader regarding costing toolset (Should Costing, NPV, TCO) in projects.

l A team player who is both proactive and cooperative; easily gains trust and support of peers; encourages collaboration and challenges constructively

l Team Leadership Experience Preferred

l Can think strategically and is at the same time hands-on. Delivers results.

l Understands and is able to challenge blue prints and specifications

l Experience in international and multidisciplinary project teams is preferred

l Good English and Chinese Language capability is a must.

l Prepared to travel up to 10% of the time
