Position Purpose
As a member of the Plant leadership team, the Local Planned Maintenance is the plant’s equipment maintenance expert, responsible for developing and executing Planned Maintenance and Equipment Reliability in the plant. The structure of the pillar will be based on the design criteria, principles and strategy in the SCJ Manufacturing Performance System. At its plant will deliver impact and drive breakthrough performance by developing and implementing an equipment reliability strategy aimed at eliminating equipment breakdowns in a cost effective manner.
Primary Accountabilities:
General areas of responsibility include
? Ensure all plant is employing best practices and achieving targets aiming at eliminating equipment breakdowns
? Define based upon existing external best practices and tailored to SCJ’s context, a comprehensive equipment reliability strategy with clear steps Focused to increase equipment uptime elimination breakdowns including
o Proactive use of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance
o Preventive maintenance done as cost effective approach to improving reliability
o Maintenance levels on equipment matched to equipment strategy based on criticality
o Maintenance strategy used and coupled with Lean through equipment breakdown elimination and working with shop floor teams supporting them in their autonomous maintenance activities
o Joint ownership of equipment by operators and maintenance to maximize reliability
o Performance goals, calculating methods, targets and reporting tools (often based on benchmarking and/or diagnostic findings) which drive performance
? Build capabilities in every maintenance team across the plant, creating a high performance culture which self sustains the loss elimination culture and recognizes their role as support function to the production teams including
o Strategic planning that raises the level of maintenance performance with an emphasis on skill enhancement for all maintenance partners
o Training by doing
o Guiding the teams through shop floor activities
o Coordinating with other pillars to support the production teams
o Gathering and sharing learning from other sites
? Manage the PM strategy through the Plant pillar structure to deliver measurable impact on OEE improvement and maintenance cost improvement by
o Collaborating with the plant to deliver on glide path commitments
o Verifying progress of equipment reliability strategy implementation
o Tracking OEE improvement and maintenance performance metrics and taking action supporting the teams when performance may not be on track
o Ensuring skill enhancement for all maintenance teams and partners is developing as needed to meet commitments
o Interacting with other functional areas and pillars to focus attention based on priorities and driving impact
? Brings leading edge thinking in equipment reliability to maximize the investment value equation enabling our manufacturing operations respond with flexibility to the evolving requirements of our customers and consumers relentlessly improving through the elimination of waste, variability and inflexibility
Required Skills and Education:
? Industry experience – Desired experience in multinational consumer goods companies. Experiences in semi-conductor and consumer electronics industry are also acceptable
? Content experience – Has at least 7-10 years of maintenance experience, with significant experiences in leading TPM related initiative.
? Front line management experience in manufacturing –Has at least 7 years of proven track record of success at the front line management level. Strong understanding of manufacturing environment and its internal and external challenges.
? Lean Knowledge –Equipped with Lean knowledge and has experience in implementing or leading Lean. Selected candidate will be expected to own mastery of the lean principles and the SCJ transformation approach across Operating System, Management Infrastructure, and Mindset, Behaviors and Capabilities
? Leadership and management – Possesses strong leadership, people skills and written and oral communication abilities
? Influencing – Can effectively garner support from others, negotiate persuasively and create win/win outcomes
? Technical – Has solid Project Management skills, deep knowledge of TPM and mastery of Planned Maintenance and Equipment Reliability
? Education – Bachelors degree. Masters degree is desirable from a reputable local or foreign university
? Equipment reliability and maintenance expertise – Has earned credibility from his technical expertise and implementation experience
