PURPOSE
The key objectives of this position are to provide the primary interface with the Asset Efficiency and GO groups; develop the operational and business strategy at LBU level; provide support in IT efforts in developing Optimization and Simulation Tools to drive the acceleration of productivity improvement for AMG. Additionally, this role will facilitate CI events to drive productivity initiatives with the primary areas of interface as well as in support of the individual LBU"s within Asia Merchant Gas.

This position will be evaluated against the results for both the overall productivity and the development and execution of specific productivity action plans created and reported within the Group's Target Means. The identification and implementation of new tools and processes to drive productivity within the Make and Fulfill areas of the AMG LB Supply Chain are becoming increasingly more important as the speed of technology changes rise, productivity targets continue to increase and traditional opportunities for improvement are exhausted. This position will be expected to develop new productivity ideas, turn them into initiatives, coordinate/oversee/drive the execution plans and report on the progress/results. Key interfaces will include Plant Efficiency Engineering, GO Line Mgmt, Tactical Planning, Management Sciences and appropriate field ops personnel.


NATURE AND SCOPE
This particular role is broadened beyond the traditional MAKE GPMT support due to the additional supply optimization and IT interface aspects. Therefore the role requires the need for experience and in-depth understanding of plant design and operations, the interlinking of plant operations with distribution and engineering, and the resultant impact on cost and responsiveness of the supply chain. Additionally, this position will require extensive analytical and problem-solving skills, along with an ability to apply estimating and analytical techniques to real-world problems. Also, Matrix management skills along with group presentation skills and an ability / willingness to be certified in CI tools (in particular Lean Six Sigma) are essential.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

? Strengthen the operations, engineering and distribution interfaces in our asset management and
CI initiatives. Ensure a wide and robust idea-gathering and development network around asset
management. Participate in prioritization and prosecution of cost reduction ideas. Develop and
coordinate comprehensive plans to allow tactical teams to drive.
? Provide supply chain leadership and focus for the development and enhancement of optimization tools.
Initial efforts around tactical planning tools - including integration of mapping, optimization and simulation
tools.
? Align with and apply global practices and productivity programs to AMG
? Key involvement and possible oversight of productivity action teams. Link to Plant Efficiency and GO
Ops for focus on capacity upgrade projects and areas of efficiency improvement.
? Facilitate and implement use of CI tools Training and certification in ACE, Mapping, Sigma and Kaizen.
Utilize tools in core responsibilities and facilitate make-related events in support of LBU blitzes
? Act as single point of contact for maintaining plant models used within Lips.
? Lead monthly make meetings to facilitate interaction between Operations, Supply Chain, Product
Management, Tactical Planning, and Energy groups.
? Lead or direct LSS projects aimed at lowering production costs that go beyond pure plant operations.
Examples would include efforts to make better use of time-of-day rates on power prices.
? Proactively identify future plant production constraints and scope debottlenecking projects.
? Prime interface between GO production and the LB SC


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

? BS degree in engineering
? Experience and skills in:
a) Process engineering, plant operation, plant efficiency engineering
b) Strong data analysis skills, optimization (linear program and other solvers) and simulation skills is
a plus
c) Continuous Improvements, advanced tools such as SIGMA will be a plus
d) Project management, matrix management
? Good command of written and oral English, command of the Chinese language is a plus
