IaD (Interaction Designer) (To Microsoft, based in Shenzhen)

Join the world class, in house Surface Design studio based in Shenzhen, China. We are looking for passionate designers to help create new Devices and experiences for Microsoft.

The impact you will have is on defining the customer experience with our products from the first time a user comes in contact with our product to the way the product behaves functionally through ongoing use, your design expertise will be needed to shape the experience. Our diverse Design & Research Team calls for a variety of skills and expertise for delivering compelling physical and digital experiences.

Primary Responsibilities: This is an interaction design position within the Surface industrial design studio. You will be joining a team that drives vision and product development for Surface and PC hardware programs in the context of the Microsoft device ecosystem. The right candidate will be a “hands on” individual contributor that will bring thought, insights into inspirational creative output, and passion to industrial design space. In essence, this position requires nothing less than a “super creator”.
The right candidate will ensure full integration of brand, industrial design, user interface, graphic design, usability, and business strategy. The candidate will have demonstrated strength delivering through all stages of product development from initial ideation to shipping and supporting multiple generations of the final product. In addition, the candidate should have a portfolio that demonstrates an ability to design interactions that result in beautifully functional products.


We are looking for a designer who can:
Have a great track record in creating highly functional, user-focused, complete, and desirable designs
Effectively prototype to the right level of fidelity using a variety of methods from paper to digital.
Be able to lead teams through the design process and partner effectively within cross-functional teams
Have the ability to think strategically, act tactically, and solve problems quickly
Utilize customer and user research to drive design decisions
Clearly and persuasively communicate and present design concepts and solutions
Understand and incorporate technical, business and user requirements into designs.
Manage and build relationships with various stakeholders and partners.

Qualifications:
All candidates must provide a resume, an online portfolio, and relevant work samples along with inquiries
3-5 years of experience in interaction design
3+ years of prototyping experience and tools such as Flash or Silverlight/WPF
Deep knowledge of designer tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator
Proven ability to drive design thinking and be a thought leader in creating good end-to-end experiences.
Strong detail orientation, and an obsession for accuracy and consistency
Clear, organized written and oral communication and presentation skills
Ability to learn and understand underlying technical concepts
Bachelors in HCI, interaction design, or related field required.
