Category Planning:

  • Develop the Category strategy to achieve sustainable long-term revenue, margin and other volume growth targets in line with the overall business strategy
  • Develop the annual category plan, targets and develop sub-category plans by sales channels
  • Devise and implement appropriate operating processes, systems and procedures to ensure sustainable and consistent delivery of high quality, repeatable outputs and business results
  • Develop the tools necessary to monitor and report on the operational and financial performance of the category
  • Recommend and implement product assortment changes and build planograms for channel execution
  • Develop the processes and skills within the organization to practice market-leading category management
  • Drive alignment across lines of business teams to support and capture growth opportunities
  • Drive deeper channel, customer, and shopper/consumer knowledge into the planning process
  • Design, build, and deploy tools & processes to support business analysis (customer/category/brand), risk/opportunity identification, and action planning
  • Employ category management tools and business processes in appropriate situations to grow distribution, space and optimized assortment.


Promotional Strategy Development:

  • Identify sales opportunities which will accelerate product growth (e.g., distribution, assortment mix, incrementally, pricing, size, shelving, placement).
  • Develop Promotional Activity in accordance with promotional cycle in line with the Marketing department strategy
  • Drive planning tools and processes to support Retail marketing promotions development across the enterprise, including creating post-promotional analytics process
  • Help determine marketing communication elements to drive promotional effectiveness
  • Thought leadership to drive new and continuously improving promotional planning processes and strategic category planning

Competitive Intelligence:

Communicate competitive manufacturer/customer trade information to all functions

  • Incorporate competitive intelligence into strategies and tactical plans
  • Incorporate and leverage competitive benchmarking, current and future-looking analyses; assortment recommendations, forecasting, store labor impact, and consumer centric principles to promote the sale of the food & beverage category but merchandise as well.
  • Leverage data, analytical and planning tools for maximum benefit (Mintel and Data Monitor
  • May perform other duties as required

Internal communication and collaborations:

  • Communicate and meet with operation team, F&B development team, procurement tem and even supplier partners to proactively plan, review and act upon business opportunities and recommendations.
  • Work with operation team, F&B development team and OEs to optimize assortment and create merchandising standards, providing ongoing schematic updates and innovative planograms.
  • Work cross-functionally to leverage syndicated data and shopper insights in order to drive value through space and assortment initiatives.

Essential:

  • University degree or equivalent gained in related Bachelor of Science in Marketing degrees, focus on the critical thinking, marketing principles and business skills
  • Minimum 5–7 years of category management experience in consumer packed goods or retail industry; working knowledge of category management principles, syndicated data, shopper/consumer insights and space management principles and software.
  • Experience with analysing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

· Full understanding of Western bakery, sandwich, pastry and cake quality and standards

  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of category management function.
  • Understand tools and techniques to merchandise and market at retail.
  • Understand chain sales, retail and distributor operations.
  • Demonstrate strong foundation of business fundamentals, measurement, and business finance.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills required, including the ability to analyse multiple sources of data, determine limitations of the source data, and recommend actions based on the analysis required.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent project management skills to effectively managing multiple projects/process improvement initiatives concurrently and achieving deliverables tied to business
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationship and collaboration across different departments, sometimes virtually.
  • Advanced PC skills required, including Excel, Word, Database applications, and PowerPoint.

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to succinctly and accurately present complex data and persuasively make recommendations.
  • Ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by communicating effectively with customers, management and peers.
  • Ability to work independently and function as a self-starter with, at times, minimal supervision.
  • Ability to participate in business meetings, company initiatives and events upon request.
  • Ability to follow procedural guidelines.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information and explain variances.
  • Ability to travel domestically in the China to field locations as needed.

Desirable:

* Beverage/Alcohol industry experience desirable, but not required.

* International experience within the Informal Eating Out / restaurant market

* Food Hygiene qualifications / knowledge

* Commercial Category Management experience

* Advanced knowledge of retail mathematics
