Role Purpose:
This role will lead the marketing strategy for Mainland China, working with the wider China leadership team and global marketing team you will devise and deliver the brand plan that engages our guests and delivers growth in sales.
Key accountabilities and daily responsibilities of the position in order of importance
Customer & competitor insight
? Know our customers to deliver superior insight. Strong awareness and understanding of our customer insight (both qual and quant) with the ability to bring relevant information to meetings and written work, representing the voice of the consumer to deliver consumer-derived outcomes.
? Know the category, strong awareness and understanding of our category data .
? Evaluation. Ensure new propositions are trialled/tested as necessary to deliver appropriate risk mitigation. Ensure learnings are shared and build a philosophy of continuous improvement within the brand team.
Brand Strategy & Planning
? To take part in the annual brand strategy review to ensure the current direction of travel is congruent with the over-arching company goals and will deliver against them
? To deliver an annual brand plan working with the marketing team inclusive of campaigns which provide clear marketing KPIs and covers all brand elements of the mix (product (food/ menu), value, core creative idea, brand/visual identity, other new propositions), and provides a clear roadmap for the department for the coming year.
Consumer Experience
? Work with senior marketing team and other functions to define and drive brand plan projects which will add real value to the customer experience including menu innovation, design, layout, ambiance, occasionality, events, and partnerships
? Be the senior marketing representative on key company projects where customer-insight and brand considerations are an important part of project delivery.
Brand Engagement
? Responsible for ensuring that brand guidelines and visual identity are effective, clear and widely understood within China team and liaise with the UK team as required to ensure that we are delivering the brand.
Budget Management
? Ensure that the brand projects within the total budget are delivered to cost, ensuring forecasts are kept and driving efficiencies wherever possible
Agency Management
? Work with members of the marketing team to appoint Core Creative Agency and delivery of the big creative idea
? Create a roster of agencies, if appropriate, to assist in the delivery of brand projects identified in the annual brand plan
? Work with the SMM and Campaigns Manager to ensure that pan-agency co-ordination is managed effectively and efficiently.
Education Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Minimum knowledge requirements for the role:
? Strong commercial and technical marketing skills from a fast-paced, ideally blue chip, environment
? Experience of delivering a brand plan, both creation and execution with results to show for the plan
? Strong understanding of insight process and how to leverage insight for business growth
? Good understanding of product development – concept development, concept screening and execution to market
? Experience of delivering over marketing propositions (digital, design, category, brand guidelines, visual identity) demonstrating experience of brief writing, response to agency
? Proposals, project management (including cross-functional and agency co-ordination), budget control, and execution/course correction
? Strong creative judgement and development skills
? Excellent project management skills
? Ability to influence senior marketing manager and peer set across the business
? Ability to build strong relationships, both externally and internally
? Strong commercial judgement – results driven and holds themselves accountable for delivery and performance
? Thrives in a fast-paced environment
? Natural coach, with a genuine interest in talent and its development to deliver business results
? Ideally a marketing or business related qualification
? People management experience (brand managers, marketing assistants)
