PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS/个人能力描述
? 5+ years of leadership experience in product design, applications engineering and/or R&D for a manufacturing business.
? Bachelor of Science in appropriate engineering discipline (BSME preferred).
? MBA or relevant master's degree preferred.
? Proven track record of ability to collaborate with sales/marketing, general management to produce acceptable business results.
? Ability to drive change in products, processes, and organization culture.
? Proven track record of successful world-class product development in the same or similar industry involving moderate volume production and custom-engineered products. Demonstrated and proven technical and business leadership.
? Successful experience performing within quality programs (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing etc.) is strong preference
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/任务和职责
? Manages administrative engineering staff, scheduling, coordinating, budgeting, and planning.
? Organizes and coordinates various sections of engineering. Directs department activities, through subordinates, to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
? Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary.
? Assures compliance of company policies, procedures and objectives regarding processes, initiatives and projects.
? Administers personnel functions, including recruiting, review and approval of job descriptions and salary classifications, and selection and placement of personnel.
? Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects. Plans and establishes engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimates.
? Forecasts’ operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests. Prepares and controls departmental annual budget.
? Directs personnel activities of department, such as recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments.
? Operates within the boundaries of the AGT Business Conduct Guidelines.
? Responsible for the new product engineering and product improvement engineering, ensuring continuing design and development of quality products, cost-effective new technologies and strategic planning to meet product group goals and objectives.
? Facilitates strategic Research & Development initiative planning in conjunction with Product Management to achieve market leading product/production technologies in a cost justifiable manner. This includes identification of the research that may lead to patentable products, development of specific products to meet identified market needs and extension of existing products to extend usefulness into new areas. Ensures protection of intellectual property and publication of findings after protection is secured. This position also requires the ability to work across functions to produce superior business results.
? Facilitate the continued design and development of products using the AGT New Product Development Process on a cost-effective basis to realize the Product Group’s product plan objectives as set in coordination with Product Management.
? Implement World-Class Product Development practices to increase customer satisfaction and drive down time-to-market.
? Work closely with Product Managers, Application Engineers, and Sales member to formulate, implement and execute world-class product development strategies.
? Facilitate the NPD Process including regular project and Program Review Board meetings with product group management.
? Responsible for the thorough development and evaluation of new product criteria while ensuring that comprehensive feasibility and profitability analyses are conducted on all new and existing products.
? Ensure products conform to cost and performance specifications, and that all products conform to many different National safety standards and regulatory requirements.
? Track key new product development metrics and report progress on an established basis.
? Coordinate on-site application and co-design processes.
? Manage assigned departments by ensuring that all areas are adequately staffed with properly trained personnel.
? Making and approving decisions for assigned employees regarding employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary recommendations, career development, transfers and terminations. Ensuring that staff operates in accordance with AGT Business Conduct Guidelines.
? Providing guidance to subordinates and helping to solve complex problems and/or taking action in situations exceeding their authority.
? Preparing for approval the annual budget and ensuring that assigned areas operate within the established cost controls.
? Integrating engineering activities with other functions that support the Applications and Product Groups - marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, sales etc.
? Recommending for approval general policies relating to the Applications and Product Groups Design and Manufacturing Engineering function.
? Formulating departmental short and long range plans consistent with corporate needs.
? Developing departmental structure consistent with corporate needs.
? Establishing priorities and oversee the activities of the Engineering test laboratory.
? Demonstrate and develop a collaborative cross-functional approach to drive applications and new product development.
? Supports the continuous quality improvement process by evaluating the product lines and processes for performance enhancements. Support fastener improvement (lowering production cost and/or improved performance) of present fastener product line, working closely with Marketing, Manufacturing.
? Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
? Advise management of new developments, which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
? Maintaining current knowledge of engineering and technological developments that could be useful and relevant to the business (including relationships with various professional organizations).
