Essential responsibilities and duties
The Acquisition Buyer is responsible for anticipating the specific requirements for new program acquisitions (supplier technologies, geographical location and target costs), and to ensure the commodity panel strategy is appropriate to support the acquisition. As purchasing member of acquisition team, he/she participates to definition of target settings. The role also includes selecting expert suppliers from the agreed supplier panel to achieve acquisition objectives
The main missions of the role are:
o Contribute to the conception of the client offer: participate in the acquisition team from the offer conception phase, and involve expert suppliers in this business acquisition phase
o Provide cost feedback to the Acquisition team on various concepts intended to enhance competitiveness
o Provide support in make or buy decision by giving external price comparison and analyzing impact of decision on supplier base
o Ensure expert supplier selection from the agreed supplier panel as needed
o Negotiate and establish the appropriate cost structure to support the program objectives, review and agree the BoP quotes with acquisition team before sending out to customers
o Manage specific mandated suppliers when requested and agreed with customers
o Participate in Global Acquisitions supporting the team with regional supplier information and costs and cooperating in deciding on a local vs. global sourcing strategy
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have/be:
o Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Business.
Experience :
o Minimum 3 years experience in Purchasing in an industrial environment
Skills and competencies
o Experience of successfully managing and negotiating contracts
o Knowledge of supplier cost structures
o Knowledge of dedicated products design, development and launch processes
o Fluent in English
o Good communication skills and results oriented
o International mindset
o Ability to work in a matrix organization
Nice to have:
o Professional Purchasing Qualification
o Experience as Program Buyer
o Knowledge of APQP
o Another language depending on the region
o Good organization skills, project management skills and attention to detail
o Strong analytical capabilities
