Major Responsibilities:
1.To contribute to the localization of the FFH Governance and Risk Management Control Standards (GRMC) Underwriting philosophy through the CRO/Intergrated Risk Management Committee (IRMC), ensuring the Country Underwriting requirements are fully met
2.To develop, maintain and strictly enforce, the Country Underwriting Guidelines (CUG) in full compliance of the GRMC Minimum Standards of Underwriting in conjunction with the CRO/IRMC
3.To ensure mechanisms are in place to ensure transfer and exchange of best regional underwriting practice within the Local Underwriting Business Units
4.To establish, periodically review and publish, Regional Risk Head and Local Approvers Underwriting Authority limits in-conjunction with CRO/IRMC
5.To ensure processes are in place and strictly enforced to ensure the Country Underwriting Guidelines are adhered to and breaches are timely reported
6.To undertake periodic Underwriting Audits of the Local Business Units in-conjunction with Group Audit, ensuring that actions from the Audit Report are documented and delivered by the Regional Risk Head and Regional GM
7.To identify, reduce or eliminate single or aggregated risk exposures which have the potential to severely affect the Country profitable growth through local and regional Reinsurance/Reguarantee solutions
8.To provide training, support and guidance to Regional Risk Head and Local Underwriters in the practice of underwriting risks
9.To evaluate, develop and provide effective technical risk assessment on Pricing/EL of new products in-conjunction with the Product Team and Local Business Units to deliver profitable growth for the Region
10.To support, advise and investigate adverse underwriting identified during the Local BU quarterly/semi-annually reviews in close liaison with the Regional Risk Head and Regional GM and to report recommendations to the CRO and CEO in a timely manner
11.To contribute to the Region's risk reporting, provisioning guidelines, practice and governance in close liaison with the CRO.
12.To review, evaluate and/or adjust the product & pricing strategies employed at a local BU level, through the provision of standard pricing methodologies & enforcing minimum underwriting standards for new product offerings
13.To analyse Local BU large losses and to establish and communicate any improvements in Underwriting SOP to the Regional GMs and Regional Risk Head/Local Underwriters
14.To promote standardization of Underwriting SOP for the Local BU's to adhere to (wherever local market conditions permit)
15.To chair all regional EW meeting and identify accounts for transfer to the special asset management team.
16.To directly supervise the Transaction monitoring team for transactional and account receivables approval as well as setting up the system for automated monitoring.
