Developer Account Manager - Xbox China

As a critical part of Xbox’s entry into China, the Developer Account Manager (DAM) will be responsible for initiating and driving technical relationships between Microsoft and our top development partners. Working in close collaboration with Microsoft’s global account management team, Advanced Technical Group and hardware/software engineering teams, you will be a key advocate for Xbox One and other Microsoft gaming platforms.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the entire game development cycle on various Microsoft platforms but especially on gaming consoles. Additionally, this individual will have held a position where his/her responsibility would have included evangelizing, communicating, and making decisions around technology adoption in and around product development teams.

Key attributes for the role include exceptionally high communication skills, ability to present complex engineering concepts to a broad set of audiences, ability to grasp partner issues and propose creative technical solutions, and most importantly a sincere willingness to help developers overcome challenges encountered throughout the development cycle. Travel to, and supporting developers on site is also a core part of the job.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience working in the games and entertainment industry, and previous experience developing game-related technologies or shipping game content for various consoles or other gaming platforms.

Team/Department Mission

- Provide world class support to our top development partners in the gaming and entertainment space

- Evangelize and represent Microsoft platforms, technologies, and programs at industry events

- Communicate partner requirements internally in order to drive improvements and change to our tools, processes and solutions

Key Accountabilities

- Understanding our development partner requirements and communicating them with respective internal teams to improve their overall experience

- Becoming the key contact point for unblocking and resolving development issues in conjunction with various internal engineering teams

- Coordinating all aspects of the relationship with the key developers in region and orchestrate the different resources available within Microsoft to win mindshare

- Traveling to, and engaging external developers on site

- Helping to bring the best possible games and entertainment content to Microsoft platforms

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential Experience and Qualification

- 5+ years of product development experience with Windows, online, or console game development

- An encyclopedic knowledge of all aspects of game production and development, including a strong understanding of the business concepts and fundamentals of the gaming industry

- Experience working through at least 2 game development cycles from beginning to end

- Demonstrated experience supporting external customers and partners

- B.S. or higher in Computer Science or related technical discipline

- Must be fluid in written and spoken Mandarin and English

Personal Attributes/Interpersonal Skills.

- A highly effective personal communication style, as well as the ability to influence and inspire both external developer clients and internal stakeholders

- Some public speaking is required

- Work well under pressure, and to deadlines

- Travel 25% of the time
