职位描述
Role Statement:
The Product Engineer is responsible for product development of new products, from market definition through production and release. The position conceives original ideas for new products and develops them into practical and economical models. His major activities are in the areas of design, development, testing, and manufacture of connectors, products, and systems.
The Product Engineer determines specifications, performs engineering analyses, makes preliminary sketches and design, coordinates support operations such as fabrication engineering samples and testing. Interaction with customers, vendors, marketing and sales personnel, and other engineering areas during the pre-production stages of new products is also an important part of the role.
Key Goals & Objectives/Measurements
? On time delivery design to quality & cost target
? Innovative platform design thinking
Key Tasks:
? Responsible for product development from market definition through production and release.
? Performs activities concerned with design, development, manufacturing and testing.
? Conceives ideas for new products, and use the engineering tools to create models and drawings, introduce your concept to team and work with the team to develop a acceptable concept into practical product.
? Determines specifications, performs engineering analyses, makes preliminary sketches and design, coordinate and support operations such as fabrication of prototypes and testing.
? Interacts with customers, vendors, marketing and sales personnel, and other engineering areas during the pre-production stages of new products.
Interfaces with internal and external disciplines:
? Reporting and regular communication to the Core team leader.
? Provide cross disciplinary product related advise about technical and technical-commercial aspects
? Have regular discussions on progress, work implementation and problems, priorities, analysis, audit, CAE with other involved parties
? Advise and support manufacturing development team and plant with technical solutions
? Vendor liaison at all levels as required, contracting (through purchase department) and consultancy
? Customer advise and consultancy (through Business Office) about possibilities, applications and processing of the products
Other Duties:
? Visit customers in cooperation with the’ Business Office, get clear VOC.
? Assess technical complaints and solve problems during further development
? Manage and take responsibility for documentations and records such as the ‘Drawings Data File’ or ‘Design History File’ and Engineering Change Requests/Notifications
? Initiate necessary engineering analysis like FEA and mold flow analysis
Key Qualifications, Experiences & Knowledge:
? Have minimum an academic engineering degree
? 5 years at least work experience on Connector Design and Manufacturing Engineering
? Distinct work practice with testing and simulation devices
? Familiar with CAD tools like Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD and other necessary engineering tools
? Understanding product validation and testing specification requirements
? Should have materials selection expertise.
? Have basic knowledge about data communication connector.
? Good understanding of manufacturing processes like molding, stamping, plating, assembly.
? Fully acquainted with the computer and common software (MS office package), including engineering software
Particular Skills & Abilities Required:
? Ability to understand and work out complex technical solutions
? Clear strategic but innovative thinking.
? Good presentation skills not only in front of colleagues but also customers
? Capability of creative, analytical and structured thinking with the ability to execute
? The Product Engineer must possess the maturity, technical competence and natural authority to look after technical interests with minimal supervision
? Basic understanding about the high speed signal requirements.

? Demonstrated behaviours and values at or above TE standard
? Proficiency English communication skills both in writing and oral
? Basic knowledge in 6sigma design.
? Capabilities on failure mode cause analysis.
