Job Expectation
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is mainly focus on the key components supplier (AVL) quality assurance.
The SQE works with Sourcing Engineer, Process Engineer, Product Development, DQA/QC teams to audit, qualify the potential d.light suppliers, responsible for the whole process of new components introduction. Ensure components and material quality through working with supplier’s quality and manufacturing team on advanced process/product quality planning. Be able to work with supplier take immediate action to correct any defect identified at the supplier to d.light contract manufacturing. Be able to work with supplier effectively identify the root cause of the defect through solid systematic approach and then ensure the irrevocable corrective action in place. Be able to influence Suppliers to continuously improve performance of component quality (increase lifecycle, reduce scrap, improve processes capability) by implementing process controls and develop quality assurance plans by themselves.
SQE tracks data, identifies improvement projects, and manages cross-functional implementation to improve performance of suppliers.
This position requires strong communication skill, problem solving skill and strong engineering background, leadership skills that would enable the SQE to drive major quality improvement projects across functions. English skill is nice to have, experience and knowledge on the components: Electrical and Mechanical.
This position has two distinct but complementary sides:
1.A technical side that would be used to resolve technical issues with 8D, 5Why and other tools;
2.An Administrative/Management side that would able to logically direct and guide supplier whenever there is a sudden quality issue, be able to communicate clearly and logically and take immediate action to support d.light CM overcome the any possible line stoppage or quality spill on the field caused by the components. Be able to generate clear and professional looking report. In other words: clear mind and good communication and problem solving skill, good report making skill with excel, word and Power point and related photographic.
Position Description
Technical Responsibilities:
1.Using the Statistical Process Control (SPC), Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) tools and the Metrics, proactively identify and help implement improvement to the Supplier Quality and Supplier Quality Tools and Processes.
2.Promote the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and continuous improvement techniques at Suppliers to help them reduce variability and achieve process control.
3.Train Suppliers to effectively execute Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and Corrective Actions Preventive Actions (CAPA).
4.Initiate and follow-up Supplier Corrective Actions (SCAR) in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure complete and effective root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
5.Responsible for driving the Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) process for all Suppliers and pushing supplier performance improvement.
6.Perform supplier audit for new supplier approval and periodic audits of Supplier Quality Systems for the purpose of assuring continued Supplier conformance to the quality system requirements.
7.Supplier quality issue and CM component quality issue analysis and solving, follow up the corrective action and verify the action effectiveness.
Administrative/Management Responsibilities:
1.Develop positive relationships and effective lines of communication with suppliers: Partnership-oriented arrangements.
2.Help establish and deploy a Closed-Loop Quality Management Systems that integrates all process modules (Audit, Non-conformance tracking, CAPA and lastly Change Control) and ensures completion.
3.Manage the Supplier Quality metrics such as:
a.Non Conformance Tracking (MRB)
i.Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR)
ii.Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA)
b.Work closely with the Sourcing Group to establish and maintain a Supplier Quality Scorecard (This is part of a bigger Supplier Scorecard that includes Delivery, Cost, Partnership, Advanced Quality Planning and Quality)
c.Cost Of Poor Quality (COPQ)
4.In tandem with the Sourcing Group, develop a Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metric as a tool to help prevent quality issues or reassign costs such as Scrap, Rework and other less obvious ones to the appropriate cost center.
5.Participate as a member of the Material Review Board to review and disposition Supplier related Nonconformance Material Reports as required.
6.Lead a monthly meeting to present the “Supplier Quality Pulse” to Management.
7.Lead a weekly working meeting to review the status of the “Active Supplier Quality” issues.
8.Involve in production part approval process (PPAP) and review the documents integrity from suppliers.

Qualifications
?BS Engineering Degree (prefer major in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering)
?Five (5+) Years experience in a manufacturing environment
?Minimum of 4 years Quality Engineering Experience
?Advanced knowledge of quality related tools including, but not limited to, SPC, APQP, DOE, PPAP, ISO 9001, MSA, TS 16949, Quality tools and Quality Systems
?Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
PREFERENCES
?Minimum of 5 years experience in a Supplier Quality capacity highly desirable
?Prior Supplier Quality experience in manufacturing an analytic approach to problem solving
?Must be a critical thinker and active listener with good time management skills in order to work with Suppliers and Project Management teams to define deliverables
?Will “can do” mindset is must
?Strong/Proven project management skills, problem solving skills, leadership skills
?Advanced oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports and presentations
?Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes with very little information provided
?Lean Six Sigma training (Certification preferred)
