The China Innovation Group (CIG) of Microsoft Asia R&D in Beijing is taking on a new charter in FY’13 to be the Innovation Lab for STB. We are looking for a seasoned researcher with great leadership skills and a strong passion for innovation. The successful candidate will lead research and innovation efforts in the area of computer systems in general, including cloud computing, big data and Internet of Things.
This is an exciting moment for Microsoft STB in China as we are ready to RUN the Engineering, LAND the Go-Big, PLANT the Azure, and Harvest on the STB Growth Plan all at the same time. This team will partner closely with MSRA and other BGs to innovate, and build products and technologies that will have an impact on Microsoft’s server and tools business.
The candidate will directly report to the head of CIG.
Job Qualifications:
? A PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related areas
? Demonstrated capability in building large-scale distributed systems
? Core attributes of a research mindset: curious, passionate and eager to learn
? Core attributes of a system research mindset: pragmatic and elegant problem solving skills, love to build systems
? Strong written and communication skills; adept in cross-team collaboration
? 5 years above of industrial experience desired, but not a core requirements
Job Requirements:
Work with researchers and engineers in STB China; interact with researchers of MSRA; lead research explorations; manage, drive and execute multiple parallel projects across multiple virtual teams; effectively communicate with end customers.
Desirable Skills:
1. Experience with research projects a plus.
2. Experience with OS internals, compilers, Python, .NET, Java and distributed system
3. Familiarity with Hadoop a strong plus
