PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Leading sourcing activities and procurement support for designated design centers and/or manufacturing operations, collaborate with Commodity Managers for the Global Product Division. Establish and implement programs and initiatives to support the Division’s overall strategic procurement objectives (e.g., world class competitive pricing, supply base consolidation, improve supplier management, assurance of supply and address needs of internal customers).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Low cost country sourcing: Overall responsibility for identifying supply sources, particularly as it relates to LCCS, that meet the requirements of the overall commodity strategies. Driving initiatives to continually improve the Division’s sourcing efforts and related costs.
2.Supplier selection & Approval: Liaise with Commodity Managers and where required, lead the efforts towards the evaluation and selection of new suppliers. Drive cross functional teams in this undertaking using various resources on an as needed basis. Active participation in understanding and meeting the new products and component/raw material requirements to assure that supply base is capable and new products development is adequately supported.
3. Cost reductions: Drive to the lowest possible total cost, whilst considering overall commodity strategies. Work with Engineering, Operations and the supply base to develop low cost alternatives. Understand all of the components of related costs to know where opportunities exist that need to be addressed. Work within the Division to know who to go to and how to address potential areas of cost savings.
4.Pricing: Liaise with Commodity Managers and where required, negotiate agreements that address the global needs of the Division including, but not limited to price, delivery, quality and other required services. Understand the market(s) well enough to know who the leaders in pricing, technology and service are.
5.Supply Base Management: Work with Commodity Managers when required, Engineering, Quality and Operations to develop a preferred supply base and drive supplier consolidation. Drive the efforts to move business away from suppliers that are not preferred. Understand the right number of suppliers required. Minimize the amount of business with smaller suppliers or where the Molex spend is insignificant.
6.Supplier Performance: Manage supplier performance to meet the needs of the Division’s Operations. Communicate the suppliers’ performance by use of the Supplier Scorecard/Performance Evaluation. Meet regularly with the management team of the key suppliers to assure that our requirements are understood and/or corrective plans are in place. Utilize VMI programs or other such tools as required.
7.Cross Divisional coordination: Coordinate with other Molex Global Product Divisions to ensure consistency strategies across common commodities. Meet periodical with other sourcing capacities to share best practices, supplier information, etc.
8.Best Practices & Compliance: Support Molex’s TQM, Lean/Six Sigma program by following approved policies and procedures. Promotes the implementation of “best practices” as it relates to supply chain management. Ensure at all times the Supply Base and Molex procurement operates within the framework of regulatory and legal requirements, such as Safety, Environmental, SOX, Tax, Customs and Ethical requirements. Drive and record the acceptance of respective documents and escalate non conformities and acceptance issues.
9.Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
10.Actively responding to workers’ opinions or comments regarding L&E management; ensuring all workers are provided with L&E related trainings; ensuring L&E issues identified in internal audits are corrected in a timely manner; and understanding and cooperating actively with the company’s L&E objectives, targets, and action plans.
SCOPE:
Responsible for supporting the new product design teams and/or manufacturing plant requirements related to supply of direct and indirect materials in line with the Division’s overall procurement and logistics strategy. Continuous development of the supply base in line with global commodity strategies. Specifically responsible for the procurement activities and commodity requirements of (insert e.g., plant and/or design centres). Develop plans to meet the performance measurements / metrics and report progress against the goals.
EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering
PREFERRED:
CPM, MBA or other related graduate degree
WORK EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
10 years’ experience in global procurement management with significant experience in negotiations /management. Knowledge of suppliers and international markets. Related industry experience.

1. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and (main language of the geography of responsibility)
2. Strong leadership and negotiation skills
