Primary Duties:
Reporting to the Automation Engineering Manager, the Sr. Automation Engineering Specialist will lead and drive the engineering function support Building Automation Systems in the manufacturing of transformers, inductors and other products.

The Specialist will lead and manage a group of automation engineers and represent the automation engineering function to other partner groups such as Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Plant Engineering and Facilities, ensuring the quality of work and appropriate resources are in place to support ongoing operations and projects requiring automation engineering.

Responsibilities:
Functional Management – Responsible for performance management and professional
development of direct reports. Allocates resources, assigns priority to tasks and acts as an advisor to Automation Enginering Manager in delivery of value-added services for Engineering. Manages budgets and contract resources.

Operational Support and Technical Ownership – Responsible for development of technical subject matter expertise and provision of adequate automation resources (internally and externally) to ensure system reliability, robustness and maximum availability. Accountable for the technical quality of automation systems supporting all areas at Wurth Electronics Midcom.

Project Support -The Automation Engineering Specialist will ensure that project sub-teams are resourced appropriately (internally and externally) to meet their goals and objectives and ensure that projects are on time and on budget. In addition to engineering design resources, systems commissioning and qualification support will be appropriately resourced to meet theseobjectives.

Systems Engineering - The Automation Engineering Specialist will liaison with Facilities, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Development, and Production in developing requirements and recommendations for automation system modifications/upgrades/retrofits. Develop solutions to complex problems to complete design and engineering projects within schedule, budget and quality constraints.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Degree in Engineering (ME/EE/Automation) and five plus (5+) years of experience with solid track record of successful automation development in an electronic manufacturing environment plus years of management of automation engineering and technical support personnel is preferred. Excellent communication (English and Chinese), technical, organizational, leadership, and mentoring skills are required. Must be a team player prepared to lead, work in, and embrace a team-based culture.
Knowledge of PLC or other controllers, Handlers, Transfer systems, Quick Changeover systems, Robots and Flexible Manufacturing.
Ability to effectively coach others and lead change is required.

Technical ownership and system administration of all automation equipment/systems.
Experience planning, organizing, and coordinating work of engineers and technicians.
Ability to problem solve, provide leadership and strategic direction of corporate initiatives.

Skill in measurement, analysis, and continuous improvement in engineering organizations.
Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers and representatives of other organizations.
Experience with the establishment and utilization of risk assessment systems.
Manage capital and operating expense budgets
Technical Management:
Demonstrated experience in requirements definition, specification &design, verification, and acceptance and release of automation systems for facilities equipment.
Established expertise in multiple areas of engineering technology.
Applies industry-wide technical knowledge in development of novel approaches to automation systems engineering and design.
Develop and implement engineering practices, standards or guidelines.
Project Management:
Apply technical expertise in the coordination of multiple projects with complex scope, schedule, quality, and management objectives projects involving the planning, design, construction, maintenance and alteration of automation systems.
Project management experience on continuous improvement projects.
