Description
Join a WW-distributed team of BURA SMEs and work as an APJ regional (primary focus: China) subject matter expert on HP's BURA solutions with a focus on specific backup-ISV applications and the HP BURA portfolio. Works with field BURA Presales to consult on backup-ISV specific architectures and solutions. Contributes to winning large opportunities by providing subject matter expertise to the accout team including information on competitive strategies and technological details and differentiators. Works with engineering and WW teams to ensure customer requirements are addressed in future product developments.
Responsibilities
Assist account team and field BURA SA in creating complex BURA solution architectures, designs and sizings.
Engage with customers (presentations, workshops) to consult on BURA technologies and ISV-specific solutions.
Engage in and implement customer proof-of-concepts on BURA solutions
Create and deliver technical training to field presales and other internal and channel technical resources.
Present at (large) customer and channel/internal events promoting HP's BURA products and solutions.
Work with engineering and WW TM team to ensure customer requirements are fed back into product development.
Work with regional representatives of our BURA solution partners (HP Autonomy, Symantec, Veeam, Commvault)
Compile and disseminate information to enable field BURA SAs to successfully discover and close BURA opportunities
Contribute with competitive know-how to ensure successful closing of BURA opportunities
Act as subject-matter-expert for BURA products/solutions in China and the APJ region
Qualifications
Baseline Skills
Develop quality technical presentations to be used in training or as sales tools for the in-country BURA SAs
Prepare technology-specific and vertical-focused training content
Work with customers, partners and field SAs in a trusted technical expert role
Provide SWAT team style support with specific customer/partner escalations
Strategize with management to help design and drive appropriate technical marketing strategies
Willingness for business travel (50+%)
Ability to manage strategic sales opportunities
Booth expert in area of expertise
Creates key technical content for consumption outside of HP incl. broader industry technical blogging
Ability to clearly communicate to peers and large sized audiences
Excellent command of written English and visual communication (presentation skills), including the ability to construct and tell a powerful story
Self-motivated and ability to work independently managing strategic projects
Awareness and understanding of the cultural attributes of diverse teams & ability to work in a WW team
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
Minimum 10+ years industry experience ideally in various roles
fluent English language skills
Chinese language skills (Mandarin)
relevant industry certifications a plus (e.g. HP MASE Storage)
Knowledge and Skills
Customer facing experience a must
(Competitive) know-how about the backup ISV and BURA market and its key players
Experience working with at least one (ideally more) leading backup/archiving ISV applications
Experience in designing/architecting complex backup and recovery and archiving solutions.
Hands-on/implementation experience on backup/recovery and/or archiving solutions with at least one application
Proven public speaking (conferences, industry panels, ...) experience
Mentoring experience a plus
Ability to effectively communicate architectures & designs internally and with customers
Experience in technical training delivery to a variety of audiences
Consulting background on BURA opportunties (focus on implementation and assessments) a big plus
