OEM Technical sales engineer background:
Technical sales engineers combine technical knowledge with sales skills to provide advice and support on our range of products. OEM contact points are usually technical staff from product development departments, after sales or research centers. The emphasis of the work is to establish strong and credible links with the technical decision makers within the target OEM by demonstrating our added value in terms of vehicle and tire knowledge.
Technical sales engineers will be a key differentiating point of contact for us in order to provide both pre, and after-sales advice. They must liaise regularly with other members of the OE sales team and colleagues from a range of departments, such as research & development, design, purchasing, production and QA, as well as senior company managers.
Typical work activities
Tasks typically involve:
? Establishing technical links with new clients who will benefit from Giti products or services and maximising established client sales potential.
? Developing long-term relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their technical requirements into sales;
? Persuading clients that our product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of technical capability quality, price and delivery;
? Assisting in negotiating tender and contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs;
? Assisting in calculating client quotations and administering client accounts;
? Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education, and coordinating after-sales support services;
? Analysing costs and sales;
? Making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product meets client needs;
? Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts;
? Helping express the technical elements needed in the design of custom-made products;
? Providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team.
