Job description for Software Test Lead
Summary: Leads component test planning, test scheduling, test execution, and communication of defects and results for a Software Program to ensure reliable, easy to use and high performance products. Serves as a single point of contact to R&D program teams, test and defect information. Provides process improvements to reduce test time and increase test coverage leading to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Test cycle management: Create test plans, schedules and resource plans. Oversees test development. Manage defect database and drives automation test development. Ensure timely and accurate implementation of test plan. Manage and prioritize test assignments, activities and resources. Manage execution of test suites and perform other types of testing as described in the test plan or Product Spec. Drives software quality early in the software development cycle by reviewing designs and providing input for testability. Define and manage outsourcing of selected elements of test plan. Communicates clear and actionable results in a timely manner to development and software program teams that are distributed in different geographic locations.

2. Test process support and process improvement: document and communicate test and defect status and metrics. Apply the appropriate quality improvement processes, interact cross-functionally, with internal and external partners. Understand and apply a customer-focused quality methodology.



Qualifications

Qualifications

Education: B.S (Masters preferred) in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Experience and knowledge
Four or more years of experience in software test planning, test engineering, test development, and test execution. Leading and working with cross-functional teams as well as practical experience in all phases of the software lifecycle. Must be experienced with multiple operating systems, particularly Windows XP, Vista and Win7, Win8 and Server OS and familiar with ALM. Experience with printer/Scanner testing and coordination with test suppliers is highly desired. Experience with test planning is a must.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve desired results from general objectives.

• Excellent communication skills: listening, speaking, writing and presenting (English & Chinese). Able to express thoughts and concepts to a variety of people with different skill levels
