THE ROLE:
The Value Stream Leader (VSL) manages and integrates the efforts of operating teams across multiple shifts to insure that quality products are safely manufactured. The VSL is responsible for:
· Safety – ensure associate and environmental safety in all aspects of operation of the VS
· Quality – commit to perfect quality as the primary production goal of the VS
· Delivery – produce and ship what the customer demands, when the customer demands it
· Cost – efficiently and effectively managing the area within cost and productivity goals by eliminating all sources of waste
The VSL will also provide leadership and motivation on manufacturing tactics and associate development. The VSL will have authority over all VS assets and activities.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Production - Manage the efforts of operating teams of multiple technologies within a VS across multiple shifts. Manage cross-functional teams in the operation of the VS, including direct and indirect labor, capacity planning, new product launch, machine rates, special projects and scheduling.
OpEx (operational excellence) - Advocate and actively support the site OpEx business system. Lead VS development and lean tool training, adoption and implementation.
Change Agent – While STRICTLY complying with TS-16949 requirements, implement changes in methods, equipment, systems and organization, as needed, to achieve objectives.
Performance - Using VS assets and personnel, deliver VS objectives. Measure, control, take corrective action and report results. Annually assist in developing area budgets and KPI targets.
OPERATING ENVIRONMENT AND GUIDANCE:
The VSL has a working knowledge of all site specific and business policies such as Quality policy, Quality goals and objectives, Safety policy, Business objectives, etc. The VSL sets the example for supporting site and business policies, dependability, responsibility, adaptability and appropriate conduct for a safe, orderly and productive working environment.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Must have previous supervisory experience and demonstrated team-work ability. Must have a working knowledge of automotive quality systems. Must have a broad understanding of major functions within the plant. Must possess an understanding of lean techniques and philosophies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
· 4 years of experience in the automotive industry with experience in BOTH a technical role and supervisory experience.
· Four-year accredited B.S. Degree in Engineering, basic sciences or related disciplines.
· Ability to read and write in English.
· Knowledge of and experience with TS - 16949 quality requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
· 6 -8 years total business experience in the automotive lighting industry with at least 5 years supervisory/managerial experience.
· Thorough technical knowledge of process, equipment, controls and products.
· An advanced degree in Business or Engineering disciplines.
