Core tasks and responsibilities
Manage new development projects with top-down oversight throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget, and timeline.
Develop comprehensive project and mile-stone plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
Monitor project progress continuously and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables.
Monitor the project cost, including capital investments, product cost price development (Fixed and variable cost), economics and logistics of project plans and provide actionable feedback relating to cost benefit and return-on-investment standards.
Pro-actively communicate with all stakeholders to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements on periodic basis.
Determines product and equipment BOM’s, evaluates spare-parts requests, safety stock levels of spare parts and process step targets and ensures the correct data is prepared to be inserted into the companies ERP system;
Works closely with other head of the company’s core competence development centers to ensure the delivery of optimized and efficient automated processes, equipment and toolings.
Analyze machine capacity, presents piece flow analysis & Line balancing plans that result into a visual road map with targets per production step.
Review proposed modifications on project plans, including meeting with interested parties to approve and implement beneficial changes.
Oversee acquisition of resources and materials as needed before and during projects by talking with customers, team members, managers, and negotiating price and payment agreements with suppliers.
Anticipate upcoming project details and communicate directly with the teams and customers, staying ahead of change before it happens.
Candidate with sourcing experience would be prefered.
Candidate profile to this role
Our ideal candidate has previously held a Technical Project Management position before, preferably within a western company that operates within an international setting in China. As a person, you thrive in a collaborative environment and you are a detail-oriented technical professional that seeks the initiative and has the ability to multitask and excel with minimum supervision;
A structural process approach and knowledge of automated assembly processes are also essential to the success of this role. Occasional international travel may be required.
Minimum requirements
To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical products engineering and/or automation. PMP qualification or equivalent is desirable;
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably for a western company in China;
Solid experience in mechanical product development, project planning, project costing & budgeting, risk management and/or change management;
Extensive experience of either Punching, Roll-Forming, automated assembly equipment and processes or a combination hereof;
Stress-resistant with the ability to express a great level of confidentiality;
Superb communication and negotiation skills including an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese Mandarin; German language skills are an added value;
Open-minded, presentable and professional appearance with a positive business attire;
Practical, pro-active and resilient approach while willing to work according fixed processes and time-lines;
Ability to create and read technical drawings, product, process and material specifications;
Solid knowledge of MS office and project software tools; Knowledge of CAD software packages would be an advantage;
This full-time position is open to local Chinese citizens (M/F) that possess above attributes or western nationals (M/F) that are willing to work on a Chinese local salary package with fluent Mandarin. Relocation packages are NOT provided.
