·        Understand Burton as a brand and its’ classifications

·        Handle the development process from proto to salesman samples/ buy ready and follow up production

·        Understand technical worksheets and the designed styles sent from US or China , review all specification packages through the development phase and make recommendations for revision or changes when applicable

·        Collaborate with fit technician in Kunshan and the US as well as merchandising manager as to allocate technical worksheets to vendor(s) in order to guarantee price-performance ratio is being achieved

·        Discuss the needs of the style from the technical worksheets with the local manufacturer's sample room staff and factory merchandiser face to face

·        Coordinate and monitor raw material for proto samples to ensure on time delivery of fabric, trims and accessories as well as final garments

·        Collaborate closely with selected vendor to be more efficient and/or improve quality, offer alternatives if possible/needed and communicate with the US team about these alternatives

·        Ensure samples are being reviewed prior to sending to Burlington and verified against the technical worksheet and/or alternatives as needed. Review process should include other team members as required

·        Owner of cost sheets and their completion and accuracy. Negotiate lowest cost and best quality according to Burton Standards

·        Manage all fabric, trim and/or components that must be developed or sourced to create the best (counter) sample together with sourcing team

·        Work with fabric sourcing merchandiser to assure developments are made using fabrications that meet quality standards and can be executed for bulk

·        Correcting pattern based on FIT and Size set comments from China together with technical team

·        Discuss and explain comments from the respective product team with local vendors

·        Maintain day-to-day relationship with vendor and communicate issues with the team as they arise

·        Looking into quality aspect of the samples and work closely with QA and lab team to get materials validated

·        Ensure samples are buy ready at time of salesmen samples

·        Maintain up-to-date awareness of customer market trends

·        Make sure data entry into PLM system is correct and complete

·        Take ownership of projects – work independently

·        Report weekly project logs to ensure the Management team are fully aware of the progress and issues associated with each projects

 

Requirements:

·        7 + years’ experience as a garment merchandiser in China

·        Solid understanding of the local Chinese market, GB testing and requirements

·        Strong understanding of raw materials (fabrics and trims)

·        Major in textile with college degree background is preferable

·        Strong PC computer skills including MS Office and Outlook required

·        Excellent written or spoken English and Mandarin required, other Asian language is an advantage

·        Strong communication skills, strong in details and strong self-motivation.

·        Very good team player and very good stakeholder manager

·        Located in Kunshan (昆山市)

·        Travel required 20% of the time
