Summary Description:
Responsible for the quality of purchased items to include incorporating new product, new processes & changed regulatory requirements to current systems. Participate in supplier development activities and interactions with suppliers, implementing corrective actions & improving control plans. Provide analysis of data for informing and/or problem solving, review & recommend corrective & preventative actions for supplier improvement & elimination of defects
Job Responsibilities:
1. Implements quality system procedures and recommends improvements, interacts with team members to achieve daily and long term goals; ensures procedures are followed
2. Develop quality initiatives to attain and maintain customer satisfaction and focus. Help and support the suppliers on quality activities such as Control Plan, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Process Capability Study, Measurement System Analysis, and Checklist, etc.
3. Provide technical expertise to purchasing function
4. Serve as liaison between the supplier and Briggs and Stratton in quality activities which may include presenting quality trend data for the purpose of informing and problem solving; Work with the suppliers on corrective action report and verify its effectiveness
5. Participate in supplier development activities and interactions with suppliers, implementing corrective actions & improving control plans
6. Prepare and provide data analysis of finished product and consumer complaint issues and determine strategies/recommend implementation of corrective and preventative actions for supplier improvement and elimination of defects; follow-up relative to process improvement(s) needed
7. Conduct supplier PPAP and get the PPAP approved by the project team
8. Complete Suppliers’ Process Audit and Key Product Audit according to the plan, and follow up with the improvement plan.
9. Performs other duties as assigned
Job Skills Requirements:
1. Knowledge of quality practices and procedures including Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO/QS requirements
2. Knowledge of quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) with ability to interpret and apply SPC information to processes as well as an understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools including control plans, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis, process capability study, Measurement System Analysis, etc.
3. Interpersonal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people; ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of personnel and quality issues/problems
4. Demonstrate knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances as well as blueprint reading
5. Good English skills (oral & writing communications)
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, related technical field or equivalent education and experience
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 3 year of related experience in quality, or engineering field, fundamental quality experience in machining or assembly type operations or equivalent experience preferred
