We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Market Manager in Japan.
Part of our Hotel Sourcing organization, Market Managers are responsible for maximizing revenue, profit and developing strong commercial relationships with hotel partners in their assigned markets. A Market Manager becomes an integral part of the team that makes inventory, pricing and merchandising decisions for the market.
In this role, you will,
- Establish, maintain and negotiate supplier relationships with hotel properties, hotel management companies and chains. To be the Sourcing Champion in order to meet market demand and allow for targeted growth. Prepare and execute annual market plan, including market strategy for revenue generation and maximization.
- Increase inventory in current accounts, and optimize opportunities for growth. Identify key new strategic accounts and revenue producers to strategically increase lodging inventory.
- Monitor rate competitiveness, establish, nurture and maintain superb supplier partnerships with all key hoteliers and land operators. Establish and maintain good internal relationship with all internal stakeholders.
- Support hotel suppliers in managing inventory as per targets for room nights.
- Negotiate and secure market promotions that drive occupancy and revenue.
- Analyze contracts, rate and inventory reports to gain in-depth understanding of hotel suppliers in assigned markets. Execute pricing and load contracts.
- Implement rate/inventory revisions. Conduct weekly competitive analysis for market, and address issues with hotels for rate/inventory compliance.
- Conduct supplier evaluations, and provide meaningful reporting to partners at the property level.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on individual accounts and markets progress toward achieving weekly, monthly, annual targets.
- Understand key market demand periods, know destination trends, create/maintain event calendars for key markets, and plan courses of action required to meet supply, demand, and necessary sales.
- Monitor fulfillment performance by hotel suppliers and address any problems or concerns.
- Deliver presentations detailing GTA as well as key initiatives to partners to drive performance.
- Partner with Implementation group to address content or technical issues.
To be successful in this role, you should meet most of the following criteria,
- Bachelor Degree qualified with 5+ year’s sales/account/revenue management experience in the hospitality industry.
- Strong analytical skills required; working knowledge of hotel revenue or inventory management preferred.
- You speak Japanese and English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, plus a thorough knowledge of Internet technologies.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a multi-tasked, fast paced environment
- Strong organizational as well as written and oral communication skills. Ability to establish effective relationships with all levels of management. Professional, "get it done" attitude and work ethic.
