Safety Representative - China

Job Title: EHS Engineer
Reports to: EPC EHS Director
Job Level: Team Leader

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to our company’s satisfaction. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
? Diploma or university degree required
? 3+ years construction site safety related experience with required certificates in safety
? Familiarity with relevant Chinese safety codes, and knowledge of OSHA standards preferred
? Experience in fall/excavation/ lock out/tag out and heavy/aerial equipment
? Current CPR and First Aid
? Familiarity with OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001& ISO 14001
? Fluent in English and Chinese (speaking and writing)
? Be proactive, self-initiative and a team player
? Be able to work under pressure to meet challenging objectives
? Experience with equipment installation, commissioning safety is preferred
? Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with full working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, Power-Point and ability to learn new software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
? This person would report to the applicable Regional Safety Manager for direction.
? Implement and maintain project health and safety programs for construction sites
? Oversee the day-to-day Safety operations of project(s); ensure Contractor compliance with all Chinese Safety Codes, Regulations, Regulatory Agencies, etc…
? Proactively be involved in/organize Job Hazard Analysis, review all documentation for safety related issues, review field safety procedures and practices, conduct daily field safety inspections and safety training as required.
? Review Job Hazard Analysis procedures to ensure work scope matches work being performed in the field; and conduct Job Hazard Analysis audits (minimum of 5 per week).
? Conduct Hazards-Based review(s) at different stage during project execution.
? Ensure all project personnel, staff and visitors are briefed of site hazards and emergency response procedures, and escorted during field visits.
? Prepare & organize weekly project safety review meeting, and ensure key messages are delivered effectively to both Client and subcontractors.
? Assist as requested with accident investigations, safety training, site audits, equipment inspections, employee records and compliance.
? Submit daily safety audits, using Predictive Solutions - Safety Net program.
? Immediately notify the EH&S Construction Director immediately if any unsafe acts are deemed HIGH or Life Threatening.
? Provide temporary safety coverage for projects (vacations, sick leave, training, etc.)
? Identify training needs.
? Attend and participate in the Tool Box meetings.


Safety Implementation:
This person would be required to notify craft personnel and CM/PM of any failure to comply with project safety and health policies and procedures.
Prior to leaving the project this person would be required to submit a Safety audit to the CM using the Safety Net Program. Should the internet not available, this person would be required to submit a written report to the CM/PM listing any “Open Items”.

? Network with other safety professionals, participate in professional organizations, review current professional publications, and continue your safety education through meetings, seminars, etc.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, the individual must have a working knowledge of SafetyNet (or related software), Office Suite, Internet Explorer, Google Earth, etc…

Physical Demands
The following physical demands are required and must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
? Regular to prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, etc.
? Regular to prolonged use of hands, fingers, arms, legs and other muscles of the body, to handle, hold, feel, reach, climb, step-over, ascend, descend, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste, smell, etc…
? Must be able to lift/move on occasion up to 50 pounds.
? Must be willing to work in high areas and in confined spaces or on scaffolding.
? Must be able to wear a full body harness within safety limits per our company’s Safety standards.
? Must be able to work overtime, nights, weekends and holidays as required by workload.
? Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include (but are not limited to) close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
