Job Title: Warehouse Operations Manager
Function & Department:Operations

Reports To: Director of Warehousing and Distribution EU & ROW

Purpose
.
The Warehouse Operations Manager (China) is accountable for providing direction, supervision and support to the Warehouse team in all aspects of the coordination and progression of materials through warehouse and distribution (WD) operations to meet customer delivery requirements; as well as ensuring all processes, procedures and policies are adhered to and enforced. Extensive focus will be placed on ensuring Warehouse safety awareness is a high priority.
The Warehouse Operations Manager (China) will be responsible for all aspects of the warehouse operation and assume day-to-day responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Warehousing and Distribution EU & ROW and the General Manager (China).
The Warehouse Operations Manager (China) will be accountable for the overall operation of all FSL's in China.
The Warehouse Operations Manager (China) is accountable for developing both the employees and the operational processes to optimise individual’s potential and maximise the output quality and efficiency in order to meet future planned volumes aligned to support Wesco’s strategic goals.

Principal Accountabilities
.
-Contribute to Wesco’s strategic plan through the delivery of objectives and development of warehouse processes.
Ensure alignment with US and EU Warehouse Operations across all Chinese CSL/FSL’s where applicable
-Plan and develop the physical resources for all Chinese Warehouses in order to meet current and future requirements of the business through the appropriate use of capacity planning models
-Develop warehouse employees to ensure flexibility and a skill set to allow individuals to develop, to their full potential where appropriate, and the operation to be able to flex to meet peaks of workload
-Contribute to and initiate the design, development, and implementation of physical warehousing and warehouse management systems
-Maintain Chinese Warehouses to a high level of housekeeping
-Drive, facilitate and contribute to the culture of development of individuals to ensure that employees can contribute to their optimum and the organisation evolves to meet future growth and role backfill
-Ensure that mandatory and compliance training is delivered and conducted in a timely manner
-Promote a culture of Customer Service and Process Improvement and provide guidance and support in order to continually improve service levels and deliver efficiencies
-Control variable costs within pre-agreed budgets for the Chinese Warehouse Operations
-Support the management of Health & Safety within the company and be accountable for ensuring that the UK Warehouse fully complies with the Health & Safety regulations
-Support the management and deployment of Wesco’s bonded warehouse and associated duty regimes to ensure compliance to regulations at all times
-Support the management and deployment of Wesco’s Export compliance mechanisms to meet UK DTI, US DOD/DOC and Chinese regulations at all times
-Plan and conduct Process Improvement Team (PI) meetings to engage and align all WD functions to ensure smooth transitions of work flow; recommend and implement new Work Instruction processes, and ensure regulatory compliance is audited, reported, measured and improved, on a continuous basis
-Communicate with department managers to ensure that customer requirements are met and maintained
-Direct and enforce all Warehouse and Company safety standards and policies; ensuring safety compliance is followed by every warehouse employee, at all times
-Maintain departmental training and certification records in an organized and up to date manner
-Monitor employee performance and prepare and conduct verbal and written warnings, as necessary
-Prepare effective and timely performance evaluations, conduct reviews, recommend salary adjustments, promotions or disciplinary actions; and facilitate additional training or mentoring as needed
-Attend and/or conduct regularly scheduled or impromptu departmental meetings; attend Company sponsored meetings and trainings as required

.
The jobholder will primarily focus on the operational performance of Chinese Warehouses, in terms of quality, service delivery and process dwell times. In focusing on these areas it is imperative that safety, health and environmental considerations take precedence. These are the key areas in which the jobholder is ultimately accountable. The secondary focus is on the Warehouse operations to ensure that they operate at an appropriate cost for the business, through an ongoing review of department KPI’s, namely Warehouse Delivery Performance, Company delivery schedule adherence and Cost.
The effective measurement, monitoring, and management of both primary and secondary focuses will enable the jobholder to continually develop and improve on current working practices. The culture of continual improvement is paramount and pivotal, both in terms of improving operational performance, process efficiencies and individual’s contribution. The business operates in the Aerospace Sector that has critical timescales and high fluctuation in demand which requires that the Warehousing Operations can flex with agility to meet these demands.
The jobholder must also manage the development of both the team and individuals using role model leadership skills to ensure that through a structured formal training, coaching or mentoring that a robust and highly motivated team is in place with succession plans where applicable.
The jobholder will continually improve himself or herself to enhance personal and operational effectiveness. This could be through a mixture of personal coaching, training courses, and mentorship

Background Experience and Qualifications
.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience of Warehousing and Distribution in a supervisory or management role in a high volume time critical environment
Knowledge and experience of process improvement techniques
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and management
Financial Awareness and ability to build and, manage budgets
The ability to communicate effectively across all levels in the organisation in appropriate and in a variety of ways
Degree level education or equivalent experience in Logistics/Warehouse Management
Project Management skills and experience using MS Project
Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
Managing and Developing People and Teams
Strong Knowledge of the Aerospace market sector relative to Wesco’s Operation
