Summary: The Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the MySQL database management system. Ensures the DB schemas are designed to meet the requirements of the business for high volume real-time transactional processing times. In addition, design, implement, and maintain a replication topology which will ensure a 99.99 up-time processing capability, a highly distributed database topology for redundancy and multiple reporting systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Supervises and leads database personnel in the design, implementation, and maintenance of all database administrative functions and responsibilities.
2. Designs, implements, and maintains multiple DB topologies, including replication, complex indexing, schemas, optimizing SQL queries with multiple joins.
3. Reviews, develops, and designs data models using diagramming techniques, in conjunction with application development teams; creates logical models and translates into physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed database structures.
4. Monitors databases to optimize performance, resource usage, which includes capacity planning, integration, and maintenance/conversions.
5. Participates in designing, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documenting operating systems and software.
6. Maintains availability and integrity of databases through schemas; facilitates sharing common data by overseeing proper key and index management and data dictionary maintenance.
7. Provides advice to application programmers in the effective use of database languages; advises on troubleshooting, exception processing needs, and other data management issues.
8. Creates, procures, and maintains various database related documents such as manuals, data dictionary, design and analysis diagrams/manuals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

? 5+ years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities listed above.
? In depth knowledge of MS SQL server, to include multiple replication agents (subscriptions, distributions, and publishers), configuration/optimization and performance tuning.
? Advanced skill levels of 5+ years in creating databases, tables, indexing, sql queries, joins, and stored procedures, and automated jobs within MySQL.
? Advanced skills to develop and manipulate large complex data sets.
? Ability to install, maintain, modify, and upgrade database software.
? Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Information Systems with emphasis in Database Administration or technical school with work experience of 5+ years.
? Technical writing skills
? Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
