ROLE PURPOSE:
The Regional Business Controller is the lead controller in the Region supporting the SVP of the Region and the Region Leadership Team. The role holder is responsible for steering the processes of Reporting, Budgeting, Business Planning, Forecasting, Investments and KPI cascading in the Region. The Regional Business Controller plans, executes and documents the regional results as well as preparing communication material (financials, business cases, forecasts) towards Regional Leadership Team and Pte Executive Team. In performing this role, the Regional Business Controller interacts with different stakeholders in order to provide a solid basis for decision making. In addition, the role holder is leading and driving various Finance projects and is the key finance person involved in strategic projects in the region. The Regional Business Controller is part of the Regional Management Team and is the main interface between the region and the Finance function.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing proactive decision support to the Regional Leadership Team (especially SVP Region, Regional Leadership Team, Business Controller and VP Finance) and driving strategy implementation and performance management.
Controlling and Reporting
· Driving Monthly Business Reports, ensuring timeliness and quality, and interacting closely across the organization to understand underlying business drivers and issues and accurately reflect the status of the business for key decision makers
· Reporting and presenting of financial performance
· Proactive monitoring of business results and recommendation of corrective actions
· Provide support to SVP Region, Region Leadership Team, VP Finance and Business Controller on questions/issues related to Region.
Business Planning, Forecasting and S&OP process
· Process ownership of the annual Business Plan for Region i.e. planning, coordinating, executing and documenting within the area of responsibility (i.e. across regional coverage for Sales, Supply Chain and close link to Market Centres).
· Review and challenge the input received from various sources (e.g. sales, marketing, innovation team and supply chain) and consolidate the Business Plan.
· Summarize the results and provide presentation material to support the Regions SVP, Region Leadership Team, VP Finance and Business Controller in decision making
· Prepare presentation material, business cases, S&OP financials for decision makers
· Providing timely financial and aligned forecasts
· Continuously improve the planning and forecasting process within area of responsibility
Performance management
· Drive performance management process incl. target setting within Region.
· Alignment of KPI cascading across the organization through teamwork with other Regions, Market Centres, Group Controlling and other decision support teams (e.g. Strategy, HR, Corporate Support, Site Controlling)
· Regular review and analysis of performance and proactive corrective action proposals
The Regional Business Controller typically takes on additional responsibilities such as:
· Provide ad hoc support and give expert opinion to Business Controller, VP Finance, SVP Region and Region Leadership Team
· Provide ad hoc support to Business Process Support, Treasury, Tax and Accounting (i.e. implications of plans & forecasts, capital expenditure forecast, input for legal entity budgets, projects, etc).
· Project leadership, ownership or membership in various teams, including Business Driven projects
· Business content owner of profitability information system for Region including defining requirements, reports and future developments
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience / Education
· Masters (M.Sc.) degree preferably in Finance / Accounting with an MBA
· A minimum of 10 years or more of relevant experience
· MEA, Asia Pacific and Regional HQ experience is preferred
· Proven track record in managing in multicultural environment
· Experience from the chemicals / petrochemicals industry
· Experience with SAP
