Job Title: Product Engineer

Requirement:

· BS or MS in Engineering or equivalent.

· Strong mathematical ability. Ability to comprehend and apply cable theory and models to practical problems. Knowledge of associated fields including measurement methods and materials.

· Green Belt or equivalent (strong use of statistical methods, DOE's, SPC, etc.)

· Understanding of advanced fiber theory and mechanisms of optical loss as they relate to cable design and application.

· Demonstrated ability to developing training materials and train all levels of the organization.

· Self-confident and motivated to work in a substantially unstructured environment. Ability to derive, initiates, and focus on the actions required to achieve goals that are often vague or nebulous.

· Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to delegate tasks and manage major projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Function as the expert on the development, application, construction, and performance of cable products.

· Serve as the project Leader for the transfer of new product designs.

· Develop and implement new process technologies in support of new product introductions.

· Identify and implement product cost reductions, scrap reductions, and design improvements.

· Interface with raw material suppliers, Marketing, Customer Service and other functional groups on product related issues.

· Develop and refine cable design models and product costing models.

· Provide cable construction information and calculation tools to the Process Engineering and Planning and Scheduling groups.
