Key Accountabilities

To provide direct, holistic and customer service-oriented patient care for outpatients during their visit to a ParkwayHealth Center

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care for an assigned group of patients.

1. To assess, plan, prioritize, deliver and evaluate individualized patient care from a holistic perspective

2. Documents relevant information and maintains accurate, clear, comprehensive, and up-to-date patient records

3. Builds up a therapeutic helping relationship with patients and their families

4. Identifies sick patients and triage appropriately for immediate attention

5. Coordinates all patient-related activities, including patient education on recovery and rehabilitation

6. Plans follow-up on patient visits and tracks and collates patients’ investigation results; Promptly reports these results to doctors

7. Performing health education to patients/families/home-careers as planned, facilitating transition to home and/or community care, and acting as clinical resource person for patients/home-careers.

8. Records accurate and concise statements of observations and care rendered to patients, e.g.: take photo and keep record for cosmetic patients.

9. Provide skin care treatment per service need.

Provide high standards and safe patient care

1. Plans and renders high quality nursing care to patients within assigned unit, following appropriate ParkwayHealth protocols

2. Promotes a culture of safety and quality care delivery by following safety standards set by the Quality Management Department and Shanghai Health Bureau

3. Carries out physician’s orders in accordance with standardized techniques and procedure

4. Assists doctors in translation during consultation, treatments and examinations of patient

5. Effects and maintains infection control procedures and practices accordingly

6. Ensures patient’s confidentiality at all times

7. Checks regularly to ensure emergency equipment are functional at all times

8. Cleans and disinfects procedural sets after use and packs them for sterilization

9. Coordinates care activities for assigned patients using appropriate clinical pathways or care plans; performs standard procedures as well as specialized procedures which have been authorized by doctor that meet the treatment, physical and emotional needs of patients; assists doctors during treatment and care of patients.

10. Monitors and evaluates nursing/treatment interventions, patient responses, progress and outcomes basis to assure best patient outcomes and experiences; identifies problems and takes timely actions to resolve them effectively.

Ensure patient satisfaction with good, prompt and attentive service and clean, pleasant environment

1. Works in partnership with Frontline team to ensure a smooth patient flow to reduce waiting times and increase work efficiency

2. Maintains safe and clean working environment (including Consultation Rooms) furnishings and equipment for optimal patient care.

3. Works in close collaboration with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide optimal care and service to meet patient needs and expectations by providing timely, friendly, empathetic and courteous service to all patients

4. Records accurate and concise statements of observations and care rendered to patients. Maintains effective communication and interpersonal relations with patients/families/home-careers, doctors and other health care team members.

Maintains professional standards

1. Keeps abreast of nursing and health care related knowledge and skills through continuing education and development.

2. Participates in nursing and quality management projects and activities.

3. Attends a minimum of 10 hours of organized professional continuing education quarterly to maintain clinical knowledge and competence.

Exercises economy and care in the use of equipment and supplies

1. Helps monitor inventory for consumable material, supplies and equipment; Maintains par level and avoid over-stocking

2. Sterilize and clean equipment as needed. Document in the record book.

Teamwork

1. Assists in the induction of new staff to the ward; Teaches and supervises junior nurses and other team member like the housekeeping and cleaning staff

2. Builds up a collaborative, helping relationship with fellow nurses as well as members from other departments.

3. Participates in marketing related task and to coordinates patient-related promotion or activity.

4. Co-ordinate Senior nurse/Doctors to establish patient pool to offer timely promotion with guide/education appointment.

Qualifications & Experience：

Education and/or professional qualifications (minimum requirements)

1.  Graduate from an accredited Nursing College/University in the People’s Republic of China

2.  Possesses professional license to practice nursing in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China

3.  Minimum 3 years experience after graduation

4.  Preferably some overseas work experience(outside the People’s Republic of China) in a similar setting

Job Knowledge, Skills or Abilities (demonstrate skill in Administration, Management and Team working)

1. Good English skills, both verbal and written conversant English is mandatory

2. Demonstrates good customer service skills, with ability to relate to patients and their relatives

3. Two yearly re-certification of Basic Cardiac Life Support
