About the role

Ubisoft Chengdu is looking for a talented, enthusiastic Project Manager to join in the creation of the cutting-edge technology behind one of the most popular game engines, powering games like Assassin's Creed, For Honor and Rainbow Six. Ubisoft employs more than 19,000 talented people worldwide, bringing a vast amount of knowledge and expertise to game development. We have team members from more than 100 different nationalities working in 55 studios around the world, producing global bestselling games such as Assassin's Creed, with more than 155 million units sold and 100 million unique players; and Rainbow Six, with more than 60 million players and 40 professional teams competing internationally.

You will be working with the Technical Director to provide tech solutions to Ubisoft development teams around the world, collect feedback, translate the needs into the backlog, align development tasks with project priorities, as well as lead and mobilize the team to constantly improve the technology.

This role is extremely technical, so experience as a software project manager with strong technical chops will be a big plus – especially in the fields of infrastructure, tool development, and networking technologies. Last but not least, he/she must excel at operating in the grey areas; in a rapidly evolving start-up atmosphere where SOPs are often more of a wish-list than a reality.

What you will do

• Assist the Technical Director in providing a long-term vision of tech solution(s) and inspire/motivate the team with that vision
• Collect feedback from the costumers and incorporate them into future development strategies to constantly improve the technology and meet customers' expectations
• Manage the product backlog, task scheduling, assignment, tracking, troubleshooting, and reporting
• Competently and professionally manage a team of developers, while challenging them, mentoring them, coaching them, and generally helping them grow and shine
• Ensure the alignment of the team’s development objectives with the broader project and business priorities

What you should be equipped with

• Bechelor's degree or above
• At least 8 years highly comparable hands-on experience managing a software development team
• At least 5 years of experience directly managing people
• Hands-on experience with software development methodologies like AGILE. Experience as a Scrum Master is a plus
• Highly organized; strong capability to operate in the“fog of war”and translate chaos into a solid development plan
• Highly technical with experience working in a similar environment
• Experience working on a game engine is a plus
