Job Summary

In this role you will be responsible for the implementation, development, management, support, upgrading and monitoring of various database environments supporting business applications, infrastructure systems and services. You will also analyze, implement and test backup & recovery standards for databases integrity, security, data protection and disaster recovery for multiple customer groups within a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

1 Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain databases for products and applications the company is building for its clients.
2 Serve as a technical expert in MySQL technologies.
3 Design, test and implement Disaster Recovery, Backup and Restore strategies, standards and scripts.
4 Performance tuning of custom application schema, provide security recommendations, and storage management. Modify database structure to support applications and data growth.
5 Monitor & Manage databases in UNIX, Linux and Windows server environments.
6 Maintain and enforce corporate database security policies and controls for all database environments.
7 Implement and monitor Auditing and Management Controls for optimal performance and availability of databases.
8 Troubleshoot networks, systems and applications to resolve database issues, assist developers, admins and applications support staff in diagnosing and resolving database-related application problems.
9 Develop SQL and Shell scripts to optimally perform procedures, functions and notifications as part of the day to day management functions.
10 Create primary objects (tables, views, indices, keys), as required to support the requirements defined by the application support functions and system developers.
11 Provide Quality Management System Procedures on DBA processes and controls while adhering to corporate and industry compliance standards.
12 Continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends and best practices that can be used to strengthen our technology platform and development practices.

Qualifications

1 At least 3 years' experience in MySQL design and development.
2 Familiar with MySQL, backup/restore, high availability design, setup and management.
3 Experience scaling MySQL databases to support large data volumes and high transaction throughput.
4 Expertise in configuring MySQL to optimize resource utilization.
5 Working knowledge of data design principles and performance optimization techniques as applied to MySQL.
6 Knowledgeable about MySQL storage engines.?7Experience in MySQL clustering, replication and failovers.
7 Track records of data security practice.
8 Solid knowledge and experience of Linux.
9 Script programming experience using shell and one of script languages (PHP/Python/Perl).
10 Experience with NoSQL and MySQL Cluster a plus.
11 Knowledge of other aspects of the LAMP stack a plus.
