As an Intellectual Property Officer, you will be part of the Robotics and Motion (RM) Division and Drives (BU) Business unit, based in Beijing. ABB is the World leader in Robotics and Motion (RM) division offering a wide range of products and services including drives, motors, generators and robots. Key applications include energy conversion, actuation, automation, standardized manufacturing cells for applications such as machine tending, welding, cutting, painting, finishing, palletizing and packing, and engineered systems for the automotive industry.

？ Supporting the ABB Beijing Drives R&D organization in all intellectual property related topics.
？ Training design engineers, project managers etc R&D people about intellectual property processes, tools and practices.
？ Supporting the company to maintain and renew HNTE status, including intellectual property applications, university collaboration etc requirements.
？ Working with ABB China Corporate Research Center and ABB China country organization to promote best practices within intellectual property topics.
？ Supporting R&D employees to conduct prior art searches within new product development projects, utilizing common databases.
？ Supporting R&D employees to identify ideas for intellectual property filings.
？ Contact person towards the global intellectual property officers and other relevant people and organizations within ABB globally.
？ Supporting R&D manager to collaborate with external stakeholders such as government officers or other organizations when needed.
？ Supporting the company financial department in the VAT refund process (provide information about copyright applications etc).
？ Supporting the company to develop and improve the reward policy for employees who contribute to intellectual property.
？ Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

？ Bachelor’s Degree or above and major in engineering fields.
？ 5+ years of work experience within the field of intellectual property (filing IPs, conducting patent searches etc.) and/or product development.
？ Knowledge about Chinese and international patent databases, processes, requirements and drives products.
？ Understanding of industrial products and the product development process.
？ Experience on research work and/or standardization work (local or international) is an added advantage.
？ Knowledge of the China HNTE (High and New Technology Enterprise) process, requirements and common product certifications and related requirements is good to have.
？ Work or study experience abroad or in an international company is considered as a plus.
？ Good communication skills in both Chinese and English.
