Job Summary
The Project Manager will oversee and actively participate in planning, monitoring, and controlling of offshore development projects. He or she will be responsible for co-ordination and successful completion of the project. To this end, the Project Manager will perform a variety of tasks: recommends and set project milestones, delegating tasks, and monitoring project progress, and management resources assigned to the project. The Project Manager may be assigned to more than one project at a time.
Essential Job Functions
? Understands the Rational Unified Process in terms of process, deliverables, standards, and ensures that all project team members adhere to the methodology
? Create and use Gantt charts, spreadsheets or other appropriate tools such as Microsoft Project, to manage people and interdependent project tasks
? Review detailed project plan from USA project team and provide quality feedback to refine and finalize project plan
? Leverage personal technical experience in software development lifecycle to manage task assignment and appropriation of work effort
? Work with the team members or with their team leaders to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual team members on their appointed tasks
? Work with team leaders to define acceptance criteria for project deliverables and will work towards achieving acceptance of deliverables
? Anticipate and highlight deviations from the project plan or schedule early to keep all participants and team leaders informed
? Continuously monitor progress of project plan and report status to the team leaders, senior management via weekly progress reports and status meetings
? Make an effort to better understand the technology being used in order to evaluate important issues regarding the software work product in development
? Identify, log, analyze, and manage both potential and actual issues and project risks
? Take corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues head-on and reporting to team leaders the severity of the issue(s) and its respective impact on scope, schedule, quality, and cost
? Must be courteous and polite in written and oral communication, and be able to get ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, small groups, and teleconferences
? Commitment to project quality and on-time delivery
? Whenever necessary, must be willing to work on weekends and after-hours to achieve important project deadlines
? Ensure project adherence to company standards and best practices
? Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
? Provide coaching and mentoring to team members
? Posses excellent business ethics and professionalism
? Encourage creativity and forward-thinking suggestions
? Provide timely feedback on matters relating to team performance
Minimum Requirements
? Very good English communication skills: written and verbal.
? Excellent Chinese Mandarin communication skills: written and verbal
? Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities
? Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
? Four year degree in any business/ technical area or equivalent experience
? Minimum of 4-year experience in Project Management with an overall 6 years of experience
? Minimum of 3-year experience in managing outsourced/offshore development projects
? Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
? Experience with full life cycle of software project development from establishing requirements through delivery and production
? Experience in managing software development of scalable, mission critical applications
? Exposure to software development using Rational Unified Process (RUP) methodology
? Exposure to J2EE technologies
? Mastery of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office suite of applications
