Job Summary
The Technical Lead will be responsiblefor overseeing all technical aspects of a software development project. He or shewill be required to mentor new Developers on J2EE technologies and developmentbest practices. The Technical Lead workswith all Developers to ensure the optimum technical solution is utilized in thedevelopment of new and existing applications. He or she also reviews and contributes to design, deliverables, enforcescoding and design standards, and provides technical support for the team. Thisindividual should have extensive J2EE, Web, Web services, and Java experience,as well as a working knowledge of UNIX (Linux) and Windows operating systems.
This individual will coordinate andcommunicate with USAand Aaxis China Project Managers and Technical Architects. He or she must also be able to build andmanage these relationships to establish a high level of confidence and trust intheir leadership and decisions. Thisperson must be a self-starter and require minimal supervision. He or she must be able to lead multipleefforts at the same time and balance competing priorities.
Essential JobFunctions
§ Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle(SDLC) for all assigned projects
§ Plan, design, implement, and support efficient and costeffective solutions in building or maintaining software application
§ Perform 'hands-on' implementation work and will work inclose liaison with Support and Quality Testing departments
§ Must be able to analyze/translate technical specificationsinto effective technical solutions and perform program/database designactivities
§ Produce structured, commented programming code based on thedocumented requirements
§ Authors source code, source comments and project documentsin English
§ Prepare and maintain system documentation and followsproper naming conventions
§ Review design and code produced by members of theengineering team
§ Review and edit all documentation produced by junior teammembers
§ Conduct feasibility studies for new projects
§ Develop test plans, perform unit testing, and integratedtesting for developed software
§ Participate in issue resolution and change controlprocesses
§ Work closely with the other teams within the SoftwareEngineering organization to achieve effective end result
§ Solve technical problems or recommend alternative solutionsto team members and project leaders
§ Participate in researching and recommending best practicesfor the monitoring, support, maintenance, and implementation of software applications
§ Work on technically complex projects within the technologysets mentioned above, with minimal guidance
§ May indirectly supervise staff on a project or event basis
§ May manage small to medium-sized software development projects
§ Coordinate and communicate status of technical solutions withall other groups
§ Ensure development is performed to the defined specifications
§ Possess the following traits: resourceful, productive,initiative, professionalism, customer service attitude, attention to details andproduct quality, ability to multi-task, team focus, strong interpersonalskills, and strong verbal and written communication skills
§ Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
§ Self-motivated in learning new technologies andimplementing quality software components
§ Commitment to project quality and on-time delivery
§ Whenever necessary, must be willing to work on weekends andafter-hours to achieve important project deadlines
§ Familiarity or experience with software project management
§ Provide coaching and mentoring to team members
§ Possess excellent business ethics and professionalism
§ Encourage creativity and forward-thinking suggestions
§ Provide timely feedback on matters relating to team performance
Minimum Requirements
§ Four-year degree in a technical area or equivalentexperience
§ Minimum of 5-year experience in J2EE with an overall 6years of industry experience
§ Minimum of 4-year experience in designing and developingmulti-tier software applications
§ Good English communication skills: written and verbal. Must be able to pass CET Level 4 or above
§ Excellent Chinese Mandarin communication skills: writtenand verbal
§ Experience with Object-Oriented Analysis and Design(OOAD). This includes good understandingthe Unified Modeling Language (UML)
§ Exposure to development methodologies: Rational UnifiedProcess and Xtreme Programming
§ Mastery of J2EE technologies: EJB, JSP, Servlet, JNDI, JMS,JAXP and JDBC
§ Mastery of Web Technologies: JavaScript, JAXP, CSS and HTML
§ In-depth experience in utilizing open source toolkits:Struts, Hibernate, Log4J, Axis Web Services, Xerces, Xalan, Ant and Spring
§ Experience with one of the following application servers:JBoss, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere
§ Working knowledge of UNIX(Linux) and Windows operating systems
§ Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
§ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced,deadline-driven environment
§ Experience with full lifecycle of software development projectsfrom establishing requirements
through delivery and production
§ Experience in building scalable, mission-criticalapplications
§ Experience in leading software development teams
