Position description : AVR Senior Applications Engineer
Atmel Shanghai is looking for qualified candidates for application development for Atmel's Chinese AVR customers.
Atmel's AVR 8- and 32-bit microcontrollers are fast-growing, well-establish products for embedded industrial, commercial and automotive applications.
The candidates must have the ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment and relish the challenge of a dynamic workplace. You will be part of a highly qualified and growing team of Electrical Engineers, developing microcontroller firmware for Chinese AVR customers.
You will be responsible for assisting our valuable customers in a critical faze of their design. The position therefore requires the use of highly technically skilled engineers with a high dedication to being responsive and solution-oriented. You will have the opportunity to work with tier-one customers in all industries and segments.
Your career will include a technical or commercial career-path and you will be part of Atmel's increasing activity in China.
Key responsibilities/duties:
1. Technically coordinate and mentor team of 4 application engineers.
2. Customer application support, development of and understanding of customer applications in embedded programming languages (C- and ASSEMBLY, primarily)
3. Understand customer applications and play a key role in feeding back market needs to the marketing organization.
4. Development of application notes and design notes for customer-specific or application-specific projects.
5. Provide the technical interface to customers and sales force during prospecting, evaluation, design-in and post-sales phases.
6. Assist Product Engineering in the analysis of field returns (FA and RMA).

Internal - Local Team, Asian Sales Force, Factory Team in Norway
External - Customers
Required skills
1. Project Management skills
2. Embedded C-programming for microcontrollers. Experience from AVR, MSP430, PIC, HCSxx, ARM or other architectures a benefit.
3. Knowledge of hardware design, for customer's schematic review and hardware design-in. Design-experience not a requirement.
4. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Preferred industry experience in semiconductors industry with embedded applications or microcontrollers.
Language skills:
o English fluent - conversation, reading and writing.
Relevant Experience:
5+ years experience in application development and/or customer support in semiconductor environment. Some experience with resource and project management required.
Experience with customer interaction is a benefit.
Qualifications
Bachelor- / Masters-degree in Electrical Engineering, Cybernetic, Informatics is an absolute requirement.
