Sandvik in Baotou is seeking for a Workshop Manager

Sandvik is a high-technology, engineering group with advanced products and world-leading positions within selected areas. Worldwide business activities are conducted through representation in more than 130 countries. Sandvik’s operations are based on unique expertise in materials technology and extensive insight into customer processes. This combination has provided world-leading positions in selected areas - tools for metal cutting, equipment and tools for the mining and construction industries, stainless materials, special alloys, metallic and ceramic resistance materials as well as process systems.
Jinan Lingong Mining and Rock Technology Co. Ltd. (LGMRT) is a newly formed joint venture between Sandvik and the Longong Group. Sandviks’s shareholding is 65% and Lingong’s 35%. The joint venture’s establishment was completed in 2016 and 2017 will be the first full year of operations and sales. The initial products are mid-market surface drilling as well as underground loading & hauling equipment. The joint venture is located in Jinan, Shandong province.

The position would directly report to Business Line Manager, Parts & Service and be based in Baotou, Inner Mongolia Province.

Key performance area:
The role of Workshop Manager is to achieve the performance targets set by SA China, SMRT management through the management of the business, process improvement and the provision of leadership to all staff
? EHS
? Act as role model of EHS.
? Lead safety, health & environment matters and recommend actions to risk management.
? Use safety equipment issued (PPE) according to instructions.
? Create and maintain a safe working environment
? Adhere to Sandvik code of conduct and core value
? Sales & Services
? Achieve workshop sales and budget
? Maintain good relationships with customers
? Service the customer at the agreed service levels
? Introduce and offer new services to maximize overhaul opportunities
? Identify new areas to generate more revenue
? Financial management
? Prepare annual workshop budgets
? Prepare timely and accurate forecasts
? Provide monthly reports against budget.
? Commit operating expenditure within budget
? Manage stock and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) at an acceptable level
? Identify & implement cost savings initiatives
? Continuous Improvement
? Develop and foster a culture focused on continuous improvement.
? Strive to provide total internal and external customer satisfaction through a service delivery process which focuses on improvement.
? Constantly evaluate and watch for improvement opportunities throughout the company and make improvement suggestions as appropriate.
? Inventory
? Ensure adequate resources are available to service the customer needs
? Maintain inventory levels to ensure compliance with company policy
? Monitor and manage excess and obsolete inventory
? Quality Control
? Ensure a very high standard of presentation and quality is associated with all quotes, responses, equipment, parts and service deliveries.
? Ensure a very high standard of presentation and quality is maintained in all aspects of workshop operations.
? Maintain a firm commitment to the quality objectives of the company
? Ensure that subordinates fully understand, implement and maintain these quality system requirements.
? Office Administration
? Daily management of workshop
? Ensure policy and procedures are in place and reviewed in timely manner
? Ensure the operation is compliant under SMRT standard and meet local government requirement.
? Make each team member aware of their role, place in the organization structure and accountabilities

Your profile:
? Graduate degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering.
? 5-8 years working experience in a mining or manufacturing related environment, at least 3 years in leadership role.
? Demonstrated a safe and productive management of a manufacturing facility.
? Demonstrated a strong personal commitment to customer service and maintain a good relationship with Sandvik customers.
? Good product knowledge on UG Coal and UG overhaul business in China
? Capability to work and communicate with people, both internal and external, at all levels
? Proficiency in English
? Good command in computer office application

As a person you are systematic, proactive, self-motivated with initiative, courage and integrity. You are business minded and result oriented. You also have strong communication skills and can work in an English and Chinese environment.
