The Shift Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for the organisation of their shifts.
Activities
Responsible for the overall management of their shift ensuring their teams work in a rigorous professional safe and effective manner consistent with the National, Group and individual project requirements defined in each Test Plan assuring a professional high standard of service is maintained.
Overall responsibility for the correct set up of projects ensuring the required Test Plans and authorisation document are clearly documented and agreed [i.e. All Project Authorisations sent out or in case of OEM direct work PO received for all new projects].
Ensuring all projects Test plans are of satisfactory standard and the projects are set up correctly within the required customer timescales.
Ensure that their team have the appropriate training and understanding to assure the right first time delivery of the required projects in a professional and cost efficient manner.
Overall responsibility for the control of resource in the shift to ensure maximum utilisation thereby reducing standby/inefficiency [e.g. sign in/out discipline maintained, continuous line working as required, agency manning controlled]
Monitor ongoing G&P activities during their shifts to ensure that any potential concerns are identified and immediately resolved to the mutual satisfaction of all parties.
Support the Plant Manager in the recruitment, induction, appraisal and development of the Inspection team.
Support the plant Manager in achievement of plant KPIs
Work with G&P Quality Manager and Auditors to resolve immediately any issues found in layered audits
Ensure the accurate and timely creation of the required JLR and G&P reportage to support the above activities [including but not limited to Project paperwork, Shift reports, skills/training updates and accident reports]
