Dimensions
Direct sales responsibility to China fine chemical & pharma customers to achieve the following business goals:
Grow the China fine chemical & pharma business sector to achieve Sales of 0.6m for first year growing to 1.8m over the next 3 years
Self support with applications and proposals to China fine chemical & pharma customers, distributors & agent to achieve the above business goal
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
Detailed knowledge of vacuum pumping systems, chemical processes or rotating machinery and their applications gained through at least 3 years experience of a similar role.
The ability to specify and design a vacuum pump package to meet a given set of process conditions.
Analytical techniques and computer literacy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Mandarin & English are essential.
Good administrative and personal disciplines to handle multi-task, time- constrained activities, driven by customer requirements.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
Self-starter and motivator with a committed approach to meeting the set goals.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Provide technical and applications support service to customers, distributors and agents in China fine chemical & pharma sectors as required.
2. Interpret customer process conditions and enquiry specifications, including pump sizing, selection, and proposed system design. Where appropriate, prepare P&I diagrams and other documents required for the supply of customer quotations.
3. Attend meetings at customer sites anywhere in China, providing technical and commercial support as required.
4. Provide Technically correct and commercially valid quotations.
5. Initiate, coordinate and participate in internal project kick off meetings, hand over and further support the Project Engineering teams as required during the contract implementation period.
6. Maintain an up to date record of customer's correspondences and contacts using the systems provided.
7. Handle efficiently any after sales support issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
8. Direct sales responsibility for all fine chemical & pharma sector customers in China.
Nature & Scope
- This position supports the Edwards chemical and process vacuum business within China.
- The jobholder is a key technical contact, providing applications support for all liquid ring and chemical dry pumping related issues.
- The job holder is responsible for developing commercially competitive solutions using the product range which best meets customer requirements. This includes the correct initial specification and further technical development of the proposal leading up to order placement.
- The jobholder will be responsible for production of an accurate prime cost estimate for the equipment specified. They will also produce the customer quotation in line with relevant guidelines, including obtaining necessary approvals from senior management.
- The jobholder will have regular contact with management within Edwards to obtain information, approvals and resolve queries.
- The jobholder will be required to attend customer meetings in China as commercial, technical and applications support as required.
- The jobholder will be required to provide after sales support, i.e. for troubleshooting and working with service on commissioning as required.
- The jobholder takes direct responsibility of sales to all China fine chemical & pharma sector customers, from initial marketing through to negotiating the sale and collecting the cash.
