Job Purpose:
Develop business strategies, including product planning, merchandising, assortment and sell-through, to maximize sales and profits within the specific concept of Gymboree China. Lead the process to ensure the execution of the right product, right place at the right time.
Job Description
? Drive product planning, assortment and merchandising strategy, sell through management, and inventory levels on a seasonal basis, ensuring each has specific product and financial goals.
? Build and leverage relationships with cross-functional teams to obtain information necessary to create and execute product planning and merchandising strategies for both new store openings and existing stores.
? Identify and develop sales, marketing and promotional opportunities at the category, collection and style level to maximize sales
? Drive execution of receipts and markdowns against open-to-buy targets to optimize on-floor presentations and inventory turn. Drive changes in planning to maximize key performance indicators (KPI's)
? Establish best practices in the merchandising and allocation functions to ensure we are operating as a best in class retailer.
? Analyze seasonal assortment of products, use the data to create strategy for future seasons, and recommend courses of action with cross functional team. Owner of the final buy review.
? Identify market trends and develop business strategies outlining strengths, weaknesses, new opportunities and threats
? Present complete seasonal strategy with Director of Planning and US International Operations validating assortment choices, financial roll up, marketing and promotional direction
? Partner with US Visual Merchandising Manager to ensure that the store directives accurately showcase the vision of the buy.
? Build and maintain relationships with US teams to ensure that our strategies align and Gymboree China is getting the assortment needed to fulfill our consumers needs.
? Train and develop planning and allocation team members to ensure that each individual is receiving what they need to be successful.
Job Requirements :
? Proficiency with MS Office Suite and standard Retail systems/application
? Advanced Excel skills
? Excellent retail math and analytical skills, with the ability to successfully educate and trainer others on retail math
? Strong communication and presentation skills, written and verbal in Chinese and English
? Ability to use SAP/ERP a plus
? Ability to identify and quantify sales opportunities and market trends
? Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
? Ability to understand and translate financial data to make recommendations and decisions
? Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex data and develop innovative solutions
? Ability to delivery effective and persuasive presentations that support business decisions
? Ability to influence decisions and outcomes cross functionally
? Ability to accept and meet critical deadlines with good planning and organization skills
? Ability to make complex decisions based on statistics, trends, and opinions
Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
? A minimum 3 years of buying/planning experience.
? A minimum 3 years financial/business analysis experience
