Description: We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support the manufacturing operations for solar panels. The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for providing Quality Assurance Engineering support to all engineering and production operations within solar panel manufacturing. Also, provides technical support for the development and implementation of Total Quality Management systems in a Lean Continuous Process Improvement environment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Manage suppliers and supplier relationships to maintain consistent quality and service. Analyze data and identify opportunities to improve supplier quality and service levels. Facilitate continuous improvement efforts at suppliers.
2) Identify and evaluate new suppliers for new or existing products.
3) Analyze system field performance and operating history data to identify potential performance and reliability improvements.
4) Work closely with systems development, engineering and other technical teams to model systems reliability. Assist qualification engineers to write detailed product, system and sub-system quality and reliability qualification plans to support execution of product and systems related to PV modules.
5) Work with Engineering, NPI to develop Design Validation /Product Validation plans materials related to PV modules.
6) Develop and provide management with reporting on supplier performance.
7) Provide Quality Engineering support for Global Commodity Management plans.
8) Develop, implement and track scorecard and dashboard for PV module material suppliers.
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) Minimum Qualifications: ? B.S. degree in Engineering and 4-6 years of related experience or M.S. Degree and 2-4 years or Ph.D. and 0-2 years OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
2) Be able to develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving.
3) Good understanding of engineering principles, concepts and design practices in solar panel application.
4) Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communications skills; ability to lead and work in teams.
5) Be able to analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods to facilitate process analysis and improvements including SPC.
6) Proficient and skilled in MS Office Suite
Preferred requirements
1) M.S. Degree in Material Science preferred
2) Knowledge of electrical engineering, electronics and/or photovoltaics is preferred to understand the technical aspects of solar modules and systems.
3) Knowledge on the 8D methodology for problem solving and familiarity of Quality Tools.
